Why the 1980s had the best music
I am a 90s kid, but I would have loved to have grown up in the 1980s. Whether it was the wacky hairstyles, vintage clothing and the movies, being in the 1980s would have been incredible. To add the cherry on top, the best thing about the 1980s: Music. Oh my God, the music! To be alive in the 1980s where you had musicians like Michael Jackson, Prince, George Michael, Whitney Houston, Stevie Wonder and Madonna just to name a few. Even though most of these musicians actually started before the 1980s, I felt that their best work occurred during this era that makes every generation have a connection to the song. It was not just pop music that was incredible, but of course rock and R&B music that just gave a sex appeal and excitement to the era. Here are some of the examples of the songs that I will list from musicians and certain genres with their songs.

Fast and Good Food?
When I was in high school, there was a Mexican restaurant called “Mariscos La Costa” that was across the street. It was always packed! The food smelled really good and I would always see high school students eating there at their break. I figured that there was no way for me to get my food within 35 minutes. Instead, I got my food in 5 minutes. How was this possible? There were like 10 kids in front of me and I ordered a shrimp burrito. All I knew was that I did not question it, because I was too hungry.

When I tried to lie about who I was...
I am very socially awkward. I try very hard to be an extrovert, but in all honesty, I am a complete introvert. If you think I am awkward when I am in a group, you should see when I get hit on. It is like watching a crash; you can’t take your eyes away no matter how bad it looks. So what happens when a socially awkward young woman gets hit on and she freezes like deer in front of headlights? Well, it is an awkward and funny story that borders on me feeling like I am an a-hole.

I love Mexican food. Living in California, Mexican food is one of the most popular cuisines here. There is usually a debate as to what part of California has the best Mexican food, Northern California or Southern California. Of course I will admit that Southern California has us beat, but I just might have found one of the best Mexican restaurants around. I am talking about Jorge’s El Tapatio.

Girls are a lesson
Being a daughter whose mother had a traumatic childhood is not an easy situation. My mother has a somewhat dysfunctional relationship with her mother, but that is a story for another time. She has a complicated relationship with me and my sister. However, my mother went through something that will affect her and her daughters for the rest of her life. At the age of 5, she was sexually assaulted. My mother told me and my sister this at a very young age. It haunts her. She has seen therapy and while therapy helped her a bit, she still is affected. And it shows based on how she raised my sister and me.

Who has the worst fans?
I will try to be a non-bias as possible. Being that I am a born and raised West Coast girl and whether I am watching the sports media from all over the country or games with fans, I must say that I do feel that East Coast sports teams as well as their fans have a more notorious history. People in the East Coast take sports very seriously. It is not to say that the West Coast doesn’t take it seriously as well or have crazy fans, however I do not hear as many stories about fan bases and traditions like I do in the East Coast.

Yoga helped me physically...
2020 was the year where I was going to be fit and everything was going to be good. Boy was I wrong! I did not get to workout as much as I wanted to and I like many people in the year 2020, my mental state was not in the best shape. I could not do my 10,000 steps regime that I was doing very well in early 2020 but I could not do 10,000 steps in my house all day nor at my sister’s house while I babysat. I needed to exercise for the sake of my physical and just as important, my mental health.

Goodwill saved my Prom
Shopping is my therapy. I find shopping to help me with so much in life. Whether it is cardio or recreational, Shopping gives me life. My family is obsessed with shopping at the Goodwill. I did not understand why they loved to go to Goodwill. I decided to go with my mom and aunt to Goodwill to shop for essential things: clothes. I am not going to lie, I did not understand why they were into shopping at a thrift store where people sell used clothes, shoes and other products. However, when I went inside Goodwill, I found a lot of things that were nice. Not only nice, but high end designers.

Double date with my parents
My mother went back to college as soon as I was graduating. She talked about this guy in her class so many times that I felt like I had already met him. Michael this...Michael that...Michael Michael Michael! Ugh! I was surprised that my dad was not annoyed with her. My mom was talking about him so much and mentioned how he was very good looking and my age. I at first thought that she was just trying to cover her tracks and use talking to him and about him as a scapegoat to continue her friendship. I was a little taken aback when she had suggested “Oh hey, you and your friends should hang out with Michael so that he can have more friends”. Umm excuse me?! Cue the meme of Nick Young looking confused. I told her no and I thought that this was going to be the end of it. Boy was I wrong!
