Rum cake Nostalgia
Picture this: Laying on the beautiful and warm sand in the Bahamas, the water is bright blue, staying at the Atlantis Resort and having a delicious rum cake on the beach. Well most of everything is true but me eating rum cake didn’t happen because I was 10 when my family went to the Bahamas and of course I could not have rum cake, but the smell was amazing! It was sweet, warm and made my mom laugh, which I did not know why until years later was her being drunk off a slice of cake.

Little Girl Please Go to Sleep
This is a “story” that my father and mother would tell me when I did not want to sleep. Instagram Chef
If you were to look at my Instagram, most of the pictures that I take are the recipes that I have made. I have cooked numerous cuisines and desserts that have made people’s mouths water or ask “How did I do this?” While my page is public, I DO NOT tell people my recipe’s and I rarely tell where I got the recipe(s). It does not mean that I will not tell people that I will not share with them. Pick up the Pieces
Don’t throw away that used construction paper! Instead, make art out of it! I cannot tell you the many times that I have seen my niece and nephew literally cut up construction paper and throw away pieces that they can use for other projects. Being an aunt to Gen Z kids is fun but challenging. I am a millennial and a 90s baby, meanwhile my niece and nephew are both under the age of 10 and yet they know more about social media, video games and technology than their parents, grandparents and even me! My niece is five years old and she can turn off a computer and work Microsoft teams better than me. My nephew tells me how to work a smart TV and he is nine. The two of them would either be focused on their video games, favorite Youtube channel(s) or wanting to take part in my Instagram account. I felt that it was hard to entertain them or find something that the three of us can do. That was until Covid hit 2020. My niece and nephew were bored so much that not even their video games or other technology/social media activities were able to keep them entertained. Within the first month of the pandemic, I had to find something to help keep them interested while babysitting them. It was a test, but I was able to help them have fun and bring out the creativity from within.

When I was in high school, the biggest stars were Beyonce and Taylor Swift. Like high school, the girls were like Beyonce and Taylor Swift. The “Beyonce” girls were the ones who were beautiful and obsessed with; the Taylor Swift girls were the cute and popular girls you wanted to be friends with. Then there were girls like me: the weird, loner girls who felt out of place and did not fit in. However, I found a girl who I felt like I connected with and who “got” me. I am talking about Mother Monster, Lady Gaga.

90's hair is making a comeback!
As a 90s kid, my nostalgic memories include The Rugrats, Hey Arnold, Beavis & Butthead & MTV. The 1990s had edge, great TV shows, but the best thing about the 1990s was the different hair styles that transformed the 1990s. How many people are still talking about The Rachel hairstyle that Jennfier Anniston wore in Friends? My favorite hairstyle from the 1990s are the box braids that Janet Jackson wore in the movie Poetic Justice. Finally, how can we forget about the Feathered Bangs that Kelly Kapowski wore in Saved By the Bell? Get ready and buckle up because I am about to take you down memory lane with all of the hair styles that become iconic in the 1990s and beyond.
