Women of Taste Part 2
Fresa; A Strawberry with a Side of Sass

Day 62/366 days of writing in 2024.
Yesterday, I spilled the beans about a drawing I whipped up back in my design class days at the ripe old age of 23. That was just the appetizer to a three-course meal of articles I'm serving up about my latest 3D art series, which features drawings from various stages of my life. If you missed the first course, catch up here.
Fast forward a decade after I first sketched that original piece, and I found myself living it up in Miami, slinging drinks and designing cocktail menus at a fancy restaurant while feeling the creative itch to whip up a second drawing in a similar style during the Sobe food and wine festival.
Back in those days, I used to hang with a crew of artists on Sundays, collaborating on projects. It was during one of these sessions that I birthed my second creation. One of my artist friends, a native Spanish speaker, suggested I name her Fresa. She explained that in Spanish, Fresa means both strawberry and a woman who's a bit standoffish, maybe a little high society. Both definitions suited the vibe of the painting perfectly.
I went on to create a third piece, which I'll dish about tomorrow. From the get-go, I had this grand idea of bringing them all together for a "Women of Taste" series, but I put it on the back burner for years. That is until this year, when I delved into the world of 3D art and decided to dust off the pieces and make my vision a reality. Each woman in the series embodies a part of me, and I even penned poems to accompany each one.
You can view the 3D version of art I created with her here.
Today, I present to you Fresa, the strawberry with a side of sass. Enjoy!
Fresa
In the world of love, where hearts intertwine,
There lived a lady with a spirit quite divine,
Her name was Fresa, a woman so bold,
With a heart of ice, her love story untold.
Fresa, oh Fresa, elusive and fair,
She captivated men with her icy stare,
Her beauty unmatched, her presence divine,
A woman so enchanting, her heart was a shrine.
But Fresa, the maiden with a heart of frost,
Gave men the cold shoulder, her love was lost,
She danced with grace, but never in their arms,
Leaving them yearning, succumbing to her charms.
Yet deep in her core, there lay a desire,
A secret passion that fueled her fire,
For chocolate-covered strawberries, her true love,
A decadent indulgence sent from above.
With each succulent bite, her heart would melt,
The sweetness of cocoa, a feeling she felt,
Accompanied by port, a match made in heaven,
Her taste buds delighted, her soul truly leavened.
Fresa, the woman who craved this delight,
Would retreat to her haven, away from the light,
Savoring each morsel, her senses aflutter,
In this moment alone, her heart could utter.
She dreamed of a love as sweet as the fruit,
But fears held her captive, her heart remained mute,
For the men who pursued her, they never could see,
The vulnerable soul underneath her cold decree.
But one fateful day, as fate often unfolds,
A man arrived, with a heart that beholds,
A love so pure, it could thaw the ice,
That encased Fresa, like a winter's vice.
He offered her strawberries, dipped in chocolate so fine,
With a glass of port, a gesture divine,
Fresa's heart skipped a beat, her defenses gave way,
For this man saw beyond her icy display.
Together they indulged, in this sweet paradise,
Their souls intertwining, harmonizing like spice,
With each bite and sip, their love started to bloom,
Fresa discovered a warmth that could banish her gloom.
No longer did she give men the cold shoulder,
For love had found her, becoming much bolder,
In the arms of her love, she finally found peace,
A love that transcended, never to cease.
So let it be known, that even the coldest of hearts,
Can be touched by love, when the right moment starts,
And Fresa, the woman who loved strawberries and port,
Found a love so profound, her icy walls fell short.
