Velcro Art Style
My Miniatures with Velcro use

As a miniature/found item artist, I enjoy making my little scenes. Currently, having a way to enjoy my art at an interactive level is extremely exciting! Velcro has recently been the way to go to change a nonmoving art scene to an interactive. My first Velcro art above is a bar where drinks can be moved and exchanged throught the bar. Drinks can be served up onto my art piece exactly like a real bar! Adding the hanging cups that can be removed is another touch that adds to the miniature reality of the art piece. Maybe besides everyone on the board winning a full blackjack, now that is just silly isn't it!

Now shown above is an art piece where I placed Velcro in order for the blanket on the bed to be pulled back to show what is underneath. This interaction is a cool way to give a reveal. This piece is apart of my art series called "Bug Off." It is about bugs getting into places they don't belong. A metaphor about people or moments in life trying to invade your space that shouldn't. Trying to keep your treasure under the blanket while they make their way to grabbing it. The rest of the art series will be pictured below:

In addition to the bugs invading the blanket, there is on the left bugs trying to crawl into a bathtub and then drowning in the water. This reminds me of a time I rescued a bug out of a pool only for them to return back into the water again to drown. Sometimes they will not even stop at the cost of death! On the right there are bugs trying to gain access to the nectar underneath the netting while becoming stuck in the netting. What a sticky situation to be able to taste a bit of such sweetness.
Another idea I had was being able to move pieces or people around on a board. Pictured below is my Womanhood path art showing the type of "roads" or "avenues" women have to go on throughout their life.

The little women on the board are held on by the Velcro dots and can be moved around throughout the board to determine where they are in their path. The Barbies are mini occupational Barbies from the dollar store. They represent occupations such as scientist, baker, DJ, doctor, astronaut, home maker, etc. The beginning with the dream catcher starts the Barbies out with a dream as they make their way throughout beginning with product usage, finding a way to play their life cards, dealing with bugs on the way. and turning rocky roads into gems.
The bag pictured on the bottom right of the board are little birds that are called fly forward tokens that can help you push forward if the ladies gain an advantage while making way throughout the path. There is a vial of estrogen, tampon, and birth control to represent womanhood. The picperf autobalm represents women feeling as if they always need to be picture perfect. There is also a coffee cup next to a wine bottle by these items to show what the women might be drinking while they are dolling up ready either for the day or the night.
I am excited to continues my art ideas with the Velcro in mind. Say goodbye to the "No touch!" signs on art for me! I want people to be able to interact with the piece, putting themselves there within the meaning. Pulling back the blacking and moving the pieces around to follow the meaning. Velcro, let's go!
