The Houses of Parliament Sunset 1904 Claude Monet
French Impressionist artist Claude Monet focused on painting famous landmarks in London, England during the early 20th century. Many of his artworks featured the popular Houses of Parliament stretching along the Thames River. In this painting, the artist captured the thick fog that London is well-known for blanketing the towering buildings lined up by the riverbank with the setting sun just barely seen casing a dim light.
San Giorgio Maggiore at Dusk 1912 Claude Monet

French Impressionist artist Claude Monet completed this artwork toward the end of his career. The painting depicts a lovely glowing sunset in Monet’s Impressionist style. It shows the San Giorgio Maggiore, a historic landmark in Venice, Italy. The painting is known for its depictions of the calm water surrounding the monastery and the reflection of the fading sun.
The Angelus Jean-Millet Francoise

French artist Jean-Millet Francoise was part of the Realism movement during the mid-19th century. He is known for his artworks portraying the hardships of commoners in France during this time. In this painting, the sunset throws a soft light on a man and a woman in a field. The couple have finished their work and are praying for their crops to come up and produce.
Sunset at Eragny 1890 Camille Pissarro

Danish-French Impressionist artist Camille Pissarro created this artwork focusing on a sunset. It is among his most famous paintings. The painter has captured the brightness of the sun which could be seen for only moments before darkness fell.

French artist Ferdinand du Puigaudeau was known for painting many Breton settings. Some of his artwork centered on sunsets showing the golden glow as the sun set.
Sunset (Brothers) or Evening Landscape with Two Men Caspar David Friedrich

German artist Caspar David Friedrich was among the most popular German painters of the 18th and 18th centuries. He is remembered for his amazing landscapes. This artwork is considered one of his most famous done in the Romanticism style. The painting depicts two men viewing a sunset. Dense clouds can be seen masking the image of the sun and creating a glow illuminating the land seen in the background.
The Red Vineyard 1888 Vincent van Gogh

Dutch artist Vincent van Gogh depicted a colorful scene with workers in a vineyard surrounded by the glow of the setting sun. This was among his most famous paintings and is the only artwork the painter sold by himself in his lifetime.
The Ninth Wave 1850 Ivan Aivazovsky

Russian artist Ivan Aivazovsky was known for his maritime scenes. He depicts life at sea. This artwork is among his most famous depicting the sun going down upon a tumultuous sea with sailors clinging to bits of wreckage from a ship that was broken apart by waves.

Sunset in the Rockies 1866 Albert Bierstadt

German-American artist Albert Bierstadt was known for his amazing landscape paintings depicting the American West. This artwork is among his most iconic works depicting a sunset in the Rocky Mountains. It is a scene many people at that time had never seen and didn’t know what the American West looked like. The painting shows the golden glow of the setting sun cast over a river valley with the snow-capped Rockies in the background.
Twilight Mount Desert Island, Maine 1865 Frederic Edwin Church

American landscape artist Frederic Edwin Church was a member of the famous Hudson River School. This painting depicts the Maine shoreline with tall coniferous trees and rocky outcroppings seen in the deep red glow of the setting sun.

Beautiful pieces you brought up, Rasma. The piece by Monet speaks to me.
You've highlighted some impressive and beautiful sunset and works of art. My favorite has to be Van Gogh's though it may be cliche to say so. His work draws me in like a moth to a flame.
