Won’t you join me?

Down with me!

A winding road

But first,

please, step right here! Let the sun’s light bathe you,

let me see you clear

Ah yes, now I see,

You in front of me

Your ins, your outs, your up and abouts

Your twist and turns

Your ugliness shouts

Now you

see it too

See now, how I

see you

How small you are, how soft your skin. How mishapen you jaw, how repulsively odd.

I pity

even the ground you have trod!

Now quick, quick! Cover it all. I’ve shown you well,

all that you are.

Now back on the path, safe in the trees.

You must embody

how you

look to me.

Hide it oh hide it

Where sun cannot find

Hide all that you are down the path does it wind

Your shape must be thus and that

Just not you

That

is how

we make ourselves new

We fit and we fit and we fit with it all

Fit into tinyness

Till nothing at all

A puzzle is fitted. It’s not made of pieces.

Fitted so tight, without even creases.

A squirrel is small and it’s weak with no claws

In the trees it must run

For out there are jaws

They crush and they grind and they turn you to dust

So cover, oh cover, you must oh you must!

Don’t stop, think now

The horror will be, the sun on your skin

Don’t let them see!

Deny, deny, deny all and all

Remember you’ll die

If they do see it all

You’re nothing but misfit

abomination

Here’s what you need

This revelation

Deny all that’s you

Deny it eternal

Deny all the light

Light of infernal

That’s for trees

They reach toward to sky

They reach and they reach

How scary and high

Don’t mind how they twist

Ignore how they turn

That’s them

not you

Forgotten to yearn

The light has gone out

You’ve done it you see

You’re nothing, you’re gone, you’re finally free

You fit just like so

You’re finally free

Your perfect creased edges

All gone now

You see?
