Entrepreneurship: The Path to Spiritual Awakening
Why business challenges are a sacred journey toward self-discovery, growth, and ultimate fulfillment.
Entrepreneurship is always challenging, full of obstacles… But why do people keep diving in and never give up?
If you’ve been in business long enough, failed enough and learned enough, you’ll realize that what you’re ultimately pursuing is not money or status. It’s the journey of spiritual awakening.
Starting a business is the most sacred thing you can do. You are like an explorer. It takes you to unknown realms. It makes you make mistakes. You will reflect, correct, and learn. You must develop your wisdom if you want to survive. One day, you will feel lonely. It’s inevitable when you move forward and distance yourself from those stuck in place. Unable to bear the loneliness, you try to pull them along with you.
But eventually, you realize you cannot change others if they don’t want to. You gradually develop the virtue of acceptance (as taught by teacher Ngo Minh Tuan). Instead of trying to change them, you’ll find ways to inspire them by leading by example without being judgmental. This growth will push you to seek out and meet new friends who share the same aspirations. Newness and richness will continuously unfold.
Ethical business always starts with helping others. When you impact and change someone’s life, you find life meaningful. If you earn money from helping them, you’ll satisfy the desires of being human.
And you call this process passion.
If you’re doing business, just keep going.
If you’re employed, don’t quit your job. That would be a shock you couldn’t handle. Do the best you can to practice discipline and treat the company you work for as a client in need of help. Then, spend the remaining hour to start building a side project called a one-person business – solopreneur.
Step 1. Choose a topic you love
Health
Money
Happiness
Note down what you research.
In my case, I chose the field of money because I used to be in business, I understand how things work, and I’m a small piece helping others make money.
Step 2. Share your content online
You can write, make videos, podcasts, design, etc. But I prefer writing because it’s as easy to start as putting on shoes to walk or run.
By sharing, you will attract people with the same interests and concerns as you.
Step 3. Offer products/services
From the field you’re researching and sharing, find or create a product/service that solves your own problem (meaning you experiment on yourself first). Then, offer it to others and receive money in return.
Note: Never try to gain a reputation by building a perfect, altruistic, saintly image of giving without expecting anything in return (before you truly become a saint). You’re human, so live truthfully as a human – a person who helps others but also wants to satisfy personal desires. Let the process of enlightenment happen naturally, without dogma or preaching.
You will undoubtedly face difficulties. Because getting rich quickly is impossible. So, just persevere. Your business will grow over time until you are ready to fly out of the cage.
Hey, I just want you to be aware of this:
Being employed is tough, freelancing is tough, and entrepreneurship is tough (because our minds aren’t yet strong enough).
So why not choose the path that will ultimately help you grow, become stronger, and master your life?
That’s all I want to convey to you through this letter.
Entrepreneurship is the gateway to spirituality.
