An Intro If There Ever Was One
As a songwriter I often wonder what I do. As a person I often wonder what I do. Sometimes sitting down and writing a song is more of a time capsule of a moment. Then again sometimes music fits itself in perfect with a scene of life. It perfectly accompanies the background of the present predicament, almost as if putting gentle icing on a part of life's riddle. The creative process isn't without twists and turns though. Sometimes you arrive at your creative workspace only to realize that you have forgotten an essential tool required for the creative process. Sometimes you're about to play a gig and the speaker fails to work. Sometimes you leave the banjo in Glenwood. Why is it always the power cord that is not plugged in? Sometimes a gig gets canceled. I don't really know where I was going with this, but I do know that I made a movie. I'd like you to watch it. I plan to make another one soon.
Band
Yes we made one! By one I mean there at one time was six members crammed into one practice room just outside of Aspen. The point being was that there was a practice room. Actually that wasn't the point, but it definitely gave the creative space room to breathe, well not really breathe, but create. We all got our wish though. Maybe for some of the members it wasn't a wish. Perhaps for some it was the reaction to how things happen when not looking for anything. We owed it to that guitar shop for making the band and we owed it to life for letting things happen. The first thing we did after the dust settled was to head to the desert, desert with one "s" because you can only take so much of it. It sure is nice in the spring though after a cold winter with snow and thoughts. The desert is great for ideas and acts as a perfect paintbrush for sand paintings. By the end of the trip we had a band name, a diligent practice, and four members. Two members would be joining along soon after. We played some gigs, practiced, and really did most of the things that a band does. We even lost some money and then broke even a couple times after. It let us know what value was. Music and creation and really life is a labor of love.
Waves
We're always making them whether we're aware of them or not. They're always changing too whether we're aware of that or not. The waves in the morning though are more pure. I think they're recycled by the moon during the night. The early morning has the most pure waves. Songwriters who stay up way late into the early hours of morning realize this and also early risers who start their day off this way also notice this essence as it progresses into their day. It really lets us know that Earth loves to be creative and unpredictable. Mother Ocean sometimes clashes with the desert. Yet, I think the desert is female too. The oasis in the desert is a thing, although sometimes it would seem it's a mirage. Looks can be decieving!
