As the sun peeks through the curtains, my naughty companion, a fluffy ball of energy, springs into action. One of his favorite morning routines involves a playful game of hide-and-seek with my slippers. It's as if he believes they possess some mystical power that needs to be unlocked through an intense chase around the room. The sight of my slippers being carried triumphantly in his mouth is a hilarious yet heartwarming scene setting the day's tone.

I had been, and still am, convalescing from a horrible staph infection that had gone misdiagnosed for months. This, paired with the increasing challenges of being healthy, making the best choices for my co-parented child, being a wife, and being a director at a new job, was a lot to manage.
