How much is the Duchess of Sussex Meghan's As Ever Wine Company worth?

There is evidence from the As Ever Napa Valley Rose launch on the 1st of July 2025 that gives an indication of its potential valuation. As a startup, there was obvious caution in the stock level which sold out in under an hour. Could they have made $1 million in sales on the day?

The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan recently launched her 2023 As Ever Napa Valley Rose which sold out in under an hour. What did she learn from the launch data? And will she follow the path taken by others in Hollywood who ventured into the wine business?

There are many examples of celebrities who have successfully ventured into the wine business. Kylie Minogue has one of Britain's best selling Rose and her company Kylie Minogue wines had sold more than 17 million bottles globally in the four years after launching in 2020. Given that the average price of her wines are less than £10 at Britain's supermarkets such as Sainsbury's it gives you an idea of the yearly turnover of her company. However one should note that there are no public records of Kylie Minogue owning a vineyard.

You may have heard of a fight to own a vineyard in France between two celebrities a few years ago. Yes, you guest it right. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie did both own Château Miraval in the south of France. It was not a fight over nothing as it was reported to be worth around $500 million with apparently a yearly $50 million turnover although this was just for one specific year. The ownership of the Miraval vineyard partly explains one third of the high valuation given that it is reported to be worth around $160 million.

Then came the Duchess of Sussex Meghan with her As Ever Napa Valley Rose which surprisingly has won several blind taste commission by her critics in the media. At least the blind taste experience does not suffer from any bias but whatever tinkles your taste buds.

Blind taste

That however did not stop a media storm in the last few days about her business partnership with Netflix. While the media attention was mainly on a different partnership for content production which was actually coming to its natural end this year, there is one partnership with Netflix CPG which raised eyebrows with a specific report on the MailOnline. Apparently an alleged Netflix source throwing cold water on the prospects of the success of AsEver Napa Valley Rose.

A quick recap for those who have not visited Duchess Meghan's AsEver.com website, it is noted that there is a legal entity separation between AsEver and AsEver Wine. One wonders if this is a source of tension between Duchess Meghan and her business partner Netflix CPG.

As Ever Wine "The Winery" in San Francisco, California

Clearly looking at the sales potential of both AsEver entities, it is self evident that AsEver Wine is where the biggest growth and balance sheet may occur. The question is wether Netflix CPG is involved in the AsEver Wine entity. Reading the news media reports written in the MailOnline on the 24th of July 2025, maybe it points to Netflix CPG not being involved in that entity which has the potential of being more profitable with a bigger balance sheet. It is also noted that the entity AsEver (not the wine), was reported by the MailOnline to have a mailing address close to Netflix CPG in LA, California. Whereas AsEver Wine has a mailing address in San Francisco, California, much closer to Napa Valley and specifically Kenwood where it is sourced.

It then leads to the question, what is the valuation of AsEver Wine the entity which actually owns the alcohol license sold on the website also referred to as the "Winery" on the privacy notice? There are no public records of AsEver Wine ownership of a vineyard. The valuation therefore can only be derived from growth potential. After looking at the AsEver.com website traffic on the 1st of July 2025 when the Napa Valley Rose was launched, the suspected orders received is about 5000 equivalent to roughly 30,000 bottles of AsEver Napa Valley Rose. A monetary value of around $790,000. Can Duchess Meghan's AsEver Napa Valley Rose make $1 million in sales per drop? The answer is clearly yes using data from the launch profile on the 1st of July 2025 which sold out in under an hour.

A few more restocking and possible sell outs , it will certainly already be a multi million dollar business this year alone. The next restock is due in the coming days on the 5th of August 2025 to coincide with the As Ever female founder's birthday.

2024 As Ever Napa Valley Rosé

As of date, AsEver is still only a regional operation dispatching only to the United States unlike those I mentioned earlier. It is also noted that they are as yet to open up their distribution channels other than a website operation. Will they use supermarkets or just stay in the niche market to create scarcity which in the wine business means higher prices? It is certainly an interesting journey that Duchess Meghan has taken with all the pitfalls of a startup company.
