I went to meet my niece who had just been born. I was so happy to be at the hospital; normally, I hate going there, but this time, I was filled with joy. However, it's not always good news for everyone. As I was leaving the hospital, I saw a man crying, pouring his heart out in the elevator. The people around him were curious and asked why he was crying like that. He replied, "My wife is no more." He was trembling, barely able to stand. The people in the elevator held his hand and said, "Be strong," but only God knows what he was going through. It felt as if the ground had slipped from under his feet. I felt like crying too. Life can be so unpredictable, bringing happiness and sorrow in the same breath.

I had a similar experience. Went to a hospital to visit a friend who had just had a baby. The room was located in the exact same place - just on a different floor - as the one where my mother had died only months earlier. Joy and grief collided on that day without a doubt. Great piece.
