So, I have written seven stories, one for every day of 2024 so far. The idea is to write one EVERY day in 2024 - only 366 words, no more, and this was proposed by fellow Vocalist, L.C. Schäfer. You can check her idea out here:

So far, so good. Seven for seven, despite the glitches in Vocal's system last week as they were relentlessly spammed. All of the stories have now been published and I think that it is fair to say, they are all different.

You can check them out if you like via the links below:

I'm proud of them all and am looking forward to this coming week and where the prompts will take me.

Today's effort can be found here:

And here are my comrades in this writing marathon. There may be others but the only ones that I know of who are consistently writing something every day at the moment in line with the challenge are:

L.C. Schafer

Shirley Belk

Gerard DiLeo

If there are others and I've missed you, sorry. Bung your name in the comments and I'll add you.

My thoughts after Week One

I am having a blast. This is a challenge for sure but it is one to which I am committed wholeheartedly. I have found it exhilirating to be able to publish something that I have imagined every day and I can't wait to see what else my brain comes up with in the meantime. So far, I have not struggled for inspiration and I think that microfiction helps with that because you only have to provide a snapshot and ends can be left still unravelling, waiting to be pulled in a tantalising fashion. I have ended some on cliffhangers and I feel good about this as it means that I might be able to return to them in the future if I can't think of anything new or if I think that that idea could and should be taken further.

Little milestones mean miles are being covered and coming to the end of Week One and by association, the start of Week Two feels good.

Thanks for stopping by. If you've read this story, please do leave a comment as I love to interact with my readers.
