The wealthy man’s gift

A story of charity and blessings

By New stAr writer Published 6 months ago 3 min read

A woman went to a wealthy man's house due to her husband's difficult circumstances and knocked on the door. A servant came out and asked her, "What do you want?" The woman said, "I want to meet your master." The servant asked, "Who are you?" The woman said, "Tell him I'm his sister." The servant knew the master had no sister, so he went inside and told his master, "There's a woman at the door who claims to be your sister." The master said, "Bring her in."

The woman came in, and the master welcomed her warmly and asked, "Which brother's sister are you? May Allah have mercy on you." The woman said, "I'm the daughter of Adam." The wealthy man thought to himself, "This woman is indeed helpless, and I will be the first person to help her."

The woman said, "O my brother, perhaps people like you don't know how bitter poverty tastes. Due to this poverty, I'm standing at the door of divorce with my husband. Do you have something to give for the Day of Judgment? What you have will perish, but what Allah has will remain." The wealthy man said, "Repeat it."

The woman repeated her words, and the wealthy man asked her to repeat it again. She repeated it a third time, and the wealthy man asked her to repeat it a fourth time. The woman said, "I don't think you've understood me, and repeating it again is humiliating for me. I've never humiliated myself before anyone except Allah."

The wealthy man said, "By Allah, I loved the beauty of your words. If you had repeated it a thousand times, I would have given you a thousand dirhams for each time." Then he told his servants, "Give her ten camels, ten she-camels, as many sheep as she wants, and as much wealth as she desires so that we can do something for the Day of Judgment. What we have will perish, but what Allah has will remain." Don't forget the poor, because Allah is the Rich, and we are the poor.

The woman returned to her husband and told him everything. Her husband said, "You did well, may Allah give you patience." And they both returned home.

The wealthy man called his servants and said, "I want you to find this woman's husband and bring him to me." The servants found the woman's husband and brought him to the wealthy man. The wealthy man welcomed him and said, "I'm glad to meet you. Your wife is a righteous woman, and I've given her some wealth to help you both."

The woman's husband was overwhelmed with gratitude and thanked the wealthy man for his kindness. The wealthy man smiled and said, "It's not me you should thank, but Allah who has guided me to help you both. May Allah bless you both with prosperity and happiness."

From that day on, the woman and her husband lived a comfortable life, and the wealthy man continued to help them whenever they needed it. The woman never forgot the wealthy man's kindness and always prayed for his prosperity and happiness. The story spread in the town, and people began to talk about the wealthy man's generosity and kindness. Many people were inspired by his actions and started to follow his example.

The wealthy man's reputation as a kind and generous person spread far and wide, and people began to look up to him as a role model. He continued to help the poor and needy, and his wealth never diminished. Instead, it increased, and he became one of the most respected and beloved people in the town.

The story of the woman and the wealthy man teaches us the importance of kindness, generosity, and compassion. It reminds us that true wealth lies not in material possessions but in the good deeds we do for others. It also highlights the importance of humility and gratitude, as seen in the woman's response to the wealthy man's kindness.

In conclusion, the story of the woman and the wealthy man is a beautiful example of how kindness and generosity can change lives and bring people together. It reminds us that we should always be willing to help those in need and that true wealth lies in the good deeds we do for others.
