From village to sity journey of dream and determination

By New stAr writer Published 6 months ago 4 min read

"When I was little and going to school, I was having a lot of fun, but later on, I had to leave school. After that, I started working in the village, doing small jobs, and trying to earn some money. But nothing seemed to work out. Then I thought maybe I should start my own business. I tried tailoring and shopkeeping, but nothing seemed to work. I thought maybe if I went to the city, I would be more successful. I tried my best and came to Islamabad. When I first arrived in Islamabad, I wasn't having much fun because everything was new to

How that

"When I reached Islamabad, I went to a distant relative's house and stayed there for about two to three months. During that time, I tried hard to find a job, but I wasn't able to earn any money. I was also looking for a job, but there weren't any opportunities. I thought that if I got some education, I might be able to get a job or do some labor work. Since I didn't have any money, I couldn't stay with my distant relative forever, so I had to think of something."

"After that, I thought I would acquire education here, so I asked the locals if there was any place for education, such as a school or college, where I could gain knowledge. One person told me about a teacher named Sarsher Badhar, and said that he might be able to help me. When I met Sarsher Badhar, he was a very good person, and he understood every problem of mine."

"I told Sir Sherbatar that I want to acquire education and move forward. I want to learn English so that I can do online business and earn money. Can you help me? Can you teach me? Sir Sherbatar replied in a very encouraging manner, 'Of course, son, I will teach you everything.

"When I went to class on the first day, I met four or five people, there weren't many because most had left for home. I introduced myself to them, and we chatted a bit about where we were from. After a while, they left, but I continued with my class. After two or three days, I got to know the whole class, and I was very happy to see that rich and poor students were sitting together, studying. I was laughing and enjoying the experience because everyone was learning together, thanks to Sir's kindness.

Here's the translation:

"After many days, I met a girl who had classes near ours, but I had never seen her before. A few days later, when I saw her, she was staring directly at me. I wondered why she was looking at me so much, being a rich girl and looking at a poor boy like

"Where I studied was an academy, and it was located on the second floor. There were shops on the ground floor, Ah sir's house was above that, and our academy was above his house. Whenever I went there, I would see a girl on the stairs, and she would sometimes meet me on the stairs. She would wait for me on the stairs but wouldn't say anything, just look at me. When I went to the academy, she would stand at the classroom gate, just watching me every day. Sometimes she'd be here, sometimes there, sometimes in class, sometimes on the stairs, and sometimes outside. Wherever I went, she'd be there, but I couldn't understand what was going on in her mind. I couldn't ask her because she was someone I didn't know well. How could I ask her what she was doing? I just remained silent and continued with my classes."

"One day when I reached my class, after a while my friends said, 'Let's go down, we need some pens and other things.' So we went down together. When we came back, I found that something was written on one of my books. It seemed like someone had typed something and then erased it, but I could still make out a little bit of what was written. All it said was 'Someone wants to love you'."

"When I opened the book and saw that it was written 'Someone wants to love you', I realized it was the same girl. So I sent her a letter saying, 'Look, I'm not just any guy. I have my priorities straight, and I want to focus on my work and move forward. I want to achieve something, earn money. You people are rich, and we're poor. We want to move ahead, we can't afford to indulge in love and all that.' The girl replied, 'That's exactly why I like you, because you're poor, and poor people are often loyal'."

"But when she said that poor people are loyal, I told her that rich people lack loyalty, they only care about money. And I don't want to marry a rich girl because I don't need a rich girl. A rich girl would one day make me feel like I'm only worth something because of my money, and I'm a poor boy. So I don't want to marry a rich girl. She said, 'No, I promise you, I won't do that.' I said, 'Let's meet outside, I want to talk to you face-to-face because we can't do this through letters. Let's talk directly about the topic.'

When she first couldn't meet me, it was because she was a bit nervous, and I was also nervous. I was willing to meet her because I was worried about my life. My life was precious to me because I came here to study. I didn't have money, and sir started teaching me for free. And now she's saying she loves me. So I wanted to talk to her, reason with her, and tell her to focus on her work and leave me alone. I don't need love. In our village, my mother is waiting for me. My father is a laborer. I want to fulfill my duties towards them. I don't need love."
