The painful beauty of loving someone who broke your heart twice

"Oh, it must be nice to love someone who lets you break them twice”

By Veronica SmithPublished about a year ago 1 min read

There is an unbearable sadness and beauty of having your heart broken by the same person twice.

The first cut is the deepest.

You will wonder what happened to the man who looked at you as if you were the reason why the stars shine at night.

You ask yourself, “Where did the green flags go?”

Or maybe they were red all the time???

And it’s hard to see through the lying eyes when you’re mesmerized.

Yeah, I’m mesmerized.

The second cut feels numb.

You forgive the first sin. You gave another chance.

But I paid the price of giving back my heart to the one who broke it once.

I thought I was being kind. If I show that I can love him despite, against all logic… he will learn to love me with all his heart.

Our relationship became a waltz that doesn’t end until someone lets go

The band-aid from the first cut wasn’t even losing its grip yet and then he cut me twice.

What kind of a heart is that?

But I found the beauty behind the pain,

Because it also made me discover what kind of heart I have.

And when you have a good heart that only has good intentions and pure love, you never lose anybody.

They lose you.

But sometimes I wanna ask him one more time…

“How does it feel to be with someone who lets you break them twice?”
