"The Call of Darkness"

Part 2: The Curious Boy

By Md JunayedPublished 11 months ago 3 min read

The night he decided to explore the house was like any other. The moon was hidden behind thick clouds, and the village was quiet, with only the sound of the wind rustling the trees. Ravi had been waiting for the right moment, and tonight, he felt ready. He grabbed a lantern, tucked it into his bag, and set off down the winding path that led to the house.

Part 2: The Curious Boy:

Ravi had always been different from the other children in the village. While they were content with their simple lives, playing games and chasing each other through the streets, Ravi was always lost in thought. He found joy in books, in stories of faraway lands, and in the mysteries that surrounded him. While others were satisfied with the everyday, Ravi was constantly searching for something more. His mind was a place of endless questions, of what-ifs and why-nots.

The other children often teased him for being a dreamer, for not paying attention to the world around him. But Ravi didn’t mind. He was content with his own company. He loved to sit by the fire at night, listening to the tales of old told by the village elders. The stories they told were filled with magic, mystery, and wonder. They spoke of ancient creatures, powerful spells, and hidden treasures. But among all the stories, there was one that caught his attention more than any other—the story of the old house.

The villagers spoke of it in whispers, as if even saying its name aloud could bring bad luck. It was the subject of countless stories—stories of a family that had mysteriously vanished, of strange noises in the night, of things moving in the shadows. Some even claimed they had seen a figure watching them from the windows. But no one had ever dared to investigate. No one except Ravi.

For Ravi, the house was not a source of fear; it was an enigma, a puzzle waiting to be solved. Why had the family disappeared? What had happened to the house? What was really inside? These questions burned in his mind, keeping him awake at night, turning in his bed as he tried to piece together the fragments of information he had gathered.

He would sit in the village square, listening to the elders speak, trying to catch every detail, no matter how small. Some said the family had been involved in dark magic, while others believed they had angered the spirits of the land. Ravi didn’t know what to believe, but he was determined to find out for himself.

He wasn’t like the other children. They were content with their small world, with their simple lives. Ravi wanted more. He wanted to understand the mysteries of the world, to see what others could not see. He didn’t believe in ghosts or spirits, but he was certain that there was some kind of hidden truth about the house, some secret waiting to be uncovered.

One evening, as Ravi sat by the fire, staring into the flames, he made up his mind. He would go to the house. He had waited long enough. He would be the one to uncover its secrets, to reveal the truth that had been hidden for so long. It didn’t matter what the villagers thought, or how they would react. Ravi knew that he was ready.

That night, when the moon was hidden and the wind whispered through the trees, Ravi set off toward the house. His heart raced with excitement and fear, but he was determined. As he walked along the quiet road, the village fading behind him, he felt the weight of the adventure ahead. This was no ordinary night. This was the beginning of something that would change everything.
