Sleeping beauty is my favorite princess character that I abide by. Originally written by Giambattista Basile, this story has changed drastically over time from who the evil Maleficent really was to the reason why Sleeping Beauty woke up from her slumber. Overall, I believe it is a type of metaphor for waking up to live life after a "deep sleep" (such as an epiphany.) Start living your life the way you would like to instead of letting others dim your glow.

Almost every day I would ask myself, why am I doing this again? And I would answer that it helps me with my writing discipline. To meet the goal of 50,000 words it is only about 1700 words a day. 'Only' is not the right word for it, however!

What is Scribble Writing?
What is scribble writing? Scribble writing is a very simple thing to explain. Scribble writing is what I call the writing I do when I don’t have the time to write something more substantial. Or it is often things that I write in between writing large, more immersive stories. Scribble writing is often where my poems come from. Sometimes they get published on their own. Other times I hold on to them until they ripen.

The Essence of a Woman
I remember back in those days. I remember the laughter. I remember the pain. I remember my family. And I remember my friends. Cora Jenkins was my best friend. We met in church since we were little girls. We grew up together. We ate together. We played together. When all those little boys and all those little girls at school was mean to me. Cora stood up for me. Cora would even make breakfast for me when I moved out of my family home. Cora was my favorite. I loved Cora and Cora loved me. We were friends for life. Cora has her family with Emmitt. Emmitt sweep Cora off her feet. And they were happy together for a very long time. I knew everything about them, their love, their fights, and their arguments. Don't you know Cora would call me up early in the morning just to settle an argument she had with Emmitt. I also had a family Peggy Evers. I was like Cora, a Southern Bell. I loved night walks with Jerry. Jerry was White and I was Black. And we got a long just like everyone else. We had our issues and we had our love. We were crazy about each other. And we would not let anything get between us.
