Self-Love And Stepping Inside Yourself
Rupi Kaur’s Self-Love Writing Prompts
Self-love is the road toward healing. These prompts are an invitation to step inside yourself. Rupi Kaur
Self-love is a concern for my happiness and well-being and not at the expense of others. And self-compassion is important for self-love.
Sometimes in our world, it is expected to give and give without thought to our well-being and happiness. Or our happiness is supposed to come from our caring for others.
For some of us, it takes a long time to know and understand self-love.
Rupi Kaur’s Self-Love Writing Prompts — In a perfect world, where money and circumstances weren’t an issue, what would be the biggest dream you’d want to chase in the next five years?
Spending more time with family. With such a large family and everyone doing what they need to do to live the way they want to live, it is tough for everyone to get away at the same time.
They wouldn’t all want to spend their vacation with their parents either. So being free to spend more time with family would be great. They fit in time for me and the hubby and we fit in time for them. More money would help although it is probably not necessary.
Circumstances would be good if it were possible to make plans each year for a get-together with family. My son and his family couldn’t make it up to the folk's house this summer. So they will come in September. We all have a date on the calendar now.
We did spend time with them on a weekend in July at their house. It was great as we saw several of our children and grandchildren.
Because I spent a birthday trip with my adult children, who will all be in their 50s in the next 5 years, makes it all the more important to find time with them in the most busy time of their life. Our trip together showed me that.
Then I want to celebrate 50 years of recovery in the next 4 and 6 years. I want to plan a party with a few of my favorite comedians, and a magician that has entertained our family over the years.
Rupi Kaur’s Self-Love Writing Prompts — In the next ten years, I would like to learn ____________________.
I would like to learn:
To write and publish a book. (A book that could be a best seller??)
To learn more of the Ojibwe language.
To take better care of myself.
To get a regular massage, manicure, pedicure, hairstyle.
I want to enjoy my house as I am decluttering.
To spend time with sister/friends, even if it means traveling over 100 miles to see them.
Then there is continuing to ride my motorcycle and going on longer trips than simply riding in the neighborhood. I love to take my time and enjoy the scenery along the way. As an elder, my trips have shortened to 60–100 miles.
By taking our time I could still take longer trips. Right now 3 hours is my max. With breaks, I can stretch it to 5 or 6-hour days.
Authors Note: The photo above is how I still see myself when riding. I may have looked like this when I had my own motorcycle in the 70s. It was a lime green BSA chopped. Fun bike and fun riding time. Not many women on the road then.
Rupi Kaur’s Self-Love Writing Prompts — One attribute I want to be remembered for is _____________________.
One attribute to remember is my being a woman in long-term recovery. This means I no longer drink alcohol or take drugs for 44 years and I will make it to 50 years in 2030, at age 76.
Friends can say, “I knew her when and she is a woman in long-term recovery and I hope to be as happy, joyous, and free as her someday!”
