Bringing Balance to The World
If we had the power to balance the world, what would that look like
The universe takes and gives everything you didn't know you needed. These prompts are an invitation to step inside yourself and explore what balance means to you. Rupi Kaur
One person or one small group of people can make a difference in finding balance. At least they can make a start.
Two women came from the tar sands area in Canada talking about how our water is in trouble. They came to a meeting in the late 70s, early 80s. All women need to protect the water for our children and our children's children out seven generations they said.
They started a movement that has spread across the United States.
Sometimes it takes one person to bring some balance into a family. Sometimes it takes an army of family to bring balance to a community. Too many people are dying from addiction is an example. When one works on getting better, it ripples out to affect the whole community.
As an elder woman, I will die of old age or something else will take me. My job is to help this world to be around for generations to come. Climate change is real. This isn't the weather I grew up in.
Let's create a more balanced world for all.
Rupi Kaur's Balance Writing Prompts - If you had the power to balance the world, what would you want it to look like?
In my title, it assumes that we can bring balance to the world. Or maybe it is just what we think would do it. I know that I can not do it alone. I may help to start something, but the "We" is needed to make it happen.
It is clear to me at least that it will take more than our world leaders to find balance. It will take the people of the world. I alone could not bring balance to the world. I can say what I think here but it would be a dream and I don't know all the results of my dreams.
Before I retired I worked for the government for 12 years in a policy division. I saw policies coming up from the people, to get changed by people higher up the pay scale, attorneys, and others with more authority. Sometimes people who know nothing about the subject matter.
In other countries, we hear they don't allow certain chemicals in their food. Let's balance this out by following the countries' rules that are in our best interest. Not our best profit interest, but rather our best human life interest.
When few people are millionaires and billionaires and aren't required to pay taxes like everyone else, everyone else suffers. Encourage those few people to find balance for the world with their millions and billions.
Encourage those people in the top money to find solutions to world hunger. It is a shame when some have so much and others have so little. Some of my favorite people are those who give the most.
In my culture the richest people aren't the ones who have the most but rather those that give the most. That is something that has slipped a bit and yet it is probably closer to our people than to others.

Rupi Kaur's Balance Writing Prompts - In what ways has social media affected how you define success?
Social media tells us what to wear, where to travel, and what to think. If we buy into that. World news is at the tip of our fingers. We can google just about anything at any time. We can go online to buy anything we are looking for or the latest gadget or item we just saw on social media.
There aren't many who are not affected by social media. To what degree is hard to say. My husband will tell me that I am on my phone and computer too much. Because I write is there any other way to put my all into writing? Maybe.
Would I or am I affected by withdrawals as I've seen with a few grandchildren? This question is good to look at and not dismiss. How much are we all affected by social media?

Rupi Kaur's Balance Writing Prompts - What does a balanced life look like for the people closest to you? Has this affected your definition of balance?
My children are working parents. Many of their children are grown with a few that are still raising their own children and one who is raising his grandchildren. There is definite juggling that happens to fit in everything they want to do.
Sacrifices are made to be sure they are spending quality time with their children. We had 4 grandchildren for the weekend. One mother was part of the deal. It was fun. Another mother and father appreciated our taking their two.
When I called to find out where I should bring them after dinner on Sunday, I was told by our son-in-law to take them to our house. That would be fine he said.
I laughed and yet I realize that it is nice for parents to get a break from their children. Especially when they have full-time work lives and volunteer school activities.

Balance is a good thing to think about. What can I do? We don't use a dryer and hang our clothes on the line, I manage my car use by combining errands, I turn off lights when leaving a room, don't run water needlessly, shop with permanent bags, grow a small amount of my own food (organically) and preserve it, try to use all the food I buy. And yet, whenever I throw away a food wrapper or put a can in the recycling bin, I think I could be doing more. A thought provoking article.
Parents and grandparents are so selfless and sacrifice a lot. I would never do that to myself hehehehe
Inspirational article! We have to push things in the right direction If not us then who? Those who sell guns to kill our family? ( I have one daughter and every day I pray for her)
