And when we say "man," it extends to both genders. The steps of those who fear the Lord, no matter how thorny the path, no matter how much fire they walk through, screaming in pain from life's burns, or even if their steps take them far from family, far from everything, to a strange land—if it is His will, so be it!
For even if they fall—and this reminds us of the consequences that steps bring when we entrust our walk to God—it does not mean we won’t face frustrations, or that we’ll never cry. We may be embraced by anxiety and depression to the point that we feel there is no hope, that we can’t even imagine letting go of the grip of those terrible foes!
But even so, that very person will not remain fallen!
For the Lord upholds them with His hand, guiding and embracing them. The journey is painful, but it is also preparation for the end.
Still, God is good all the time!
