My name is Pablo Baltodano, born on December 12, 1980, in Managua, Nicaragua. I proudly hold dual nationality, being both Nicaraguan and Mexican. Across a range of professions, such as diplomacy, academia, entrepreneurship, and security consultancy, I have always maintained a dedicated focus on Latin American affairs.
My journey into public service began when I took on the role of the Nicaraguan Consul General to Mexico in 2007, a position I held until 2012. This role brought me face to face with my fellow Nicaraguans, revealing the often harsh realities of migration. My outreach as a Consul led me all over Mexico, visiting prisons, migrant detentions centers, migrant shelters, and the northern and southern frontiers to assist both legal and illegal Nicaraguans. This included critical journeys to places like Arriaga Chiapas, infamous for “The Beast” — the notorious train that migrants often use for their perilous journey towards the U.S.
As Consul General, I stood at the forefront promoting Nicaraguan culture, history, investments, and commerce. This dedication, combined with my understanding of multicultural dynamics and diplomatic nuances, earned me the honor of being elected President of the Honorable Association of Consul Generals in Mexico for two consecutive terms. Here, I represented all Consul Generals, helping with conflict resolution and promoting a common good among each representative country.
