I'm really excited for a couple reasons! The YouTube channel that I write for, The Gridiron, has just released a new video on Christian McCaffrey. I think it's a fantastic video and coming just in time for the start of the NFL season.

But I'm also excited because of my contribution to this one, as it has increased. Before, I was writing the scripts for these videos and then submitting them. They obviously go through an editing stage by the owner of the channel and then they get passed on to the narrator. In the past I have included videos of plays I reference and games I talk about and what not.

But recently, those efforts have increased. After talking with the owner of the channel, he wanted me to include more videos that are relevant to what I am talking about, and in addition to being the writer for the scripts, he wanted me to be the director. He liked when I included videos that the editor could use, but he also wanted me to direct when would be best to use them, if applicable. In addition to that, he wanted me to actually be directing, to some degree, how the video gets edited/created.

This includes intersplicing the narration with actual clips from other places. Finding clips from analysts, players, commentators, and directing where to insert them into the video. That way, it won't just be narration straight through the entire video, but it gets spiced up with some variety. So, my efforts have increased, it's more responsibility, but it's more rewarding. I also feel more connected to these pieces as I'm writing the narration and then choosing the places to break it up with other content, jumping more in the front seat of deciding how this video will look.

It's beeen a lot of fun so far, I really enjoy having some more control over the overall feeel and direction of the video. Of course, it still goes to the owner of the channel next. And then to the narrator and the editor and so on, and of course, they'll still contributing in big ways. But I am really proud of the extra work I have been putting into these projects. It's nice to have a job that I take this much pride in.

So far, I have written three scripts in this new style, and this is the first one I wrote, thus, it is the first one to come out. I got really into the subject matter doing all of my research, which is great, because the more passionate you are about something, the better it can potentially be. This one is about Christian McCaffrey, so fans of his, fans of the 49ers, and saddened fans of the Panthers after his departure, hopefully you can all thoroughly enjoy this video as it talks in depth about just how incredible he is. Also, anyone who is just a fan of football, I hope you'd enjoy it too. It talk about McCaffrey's impact on the league, on his teams, records he's broken, and wee even go in depth about the running backs of the league, and how that is essentially a dying position.

I hope people who aren't even humongous fans of football could enjoy this, because it touches on a lot of details but paints broad strokes as well. Talking about the money running backs used to get paid, how they are compensated now, focusing on the changing dynamic of the NFL as a whole. So please, take a look if you are interested! We sure would appreciate the support!
