Little My
Written for "I bet you were cute as a child!?" drabble challenge.
Rainy summer day. Little Cristal, in her red polka-dotted dress, shoulder-dances to the radio.
My high blond pigtails bounce around my head as I click the final piece into a puzzle I've done a hundred times before. Yet, I still enjoy it just as much as the first time.
I dash into my older sister's room and, after a quick bout of bickering, skip happily back to the living room.
It’s time to join my fictional spirit twin, Little My, for an adventure to Moominland.
I warble along to the theme song as loudly as my little throat allows.
Notes: Unfortunately, all my childhood photos are at my parents' house, and I just haven't had a chance to go there. But the girl in the picture looks unbelievably similar to me as a child – especially the hair, since this was my (or rather, my mother’s) go-to hairstyle throughout my childhood.

🕔 🕔 🕔 Second, minute, month, another year has gone by. There's no stopping time. 🕔 🕔 🕔 * Note: This haiku was inspired by a conversation with my sister. We were talking over coffee when we suddenly looked at each other, dumbfounded – our baby brother turned sixteen this year. I mean, we obviously know how old he is, but for some reason, that number hit us like a brick once we started picking it apart. We remember the day he was born like it was yesterday. Okay, maybe five years ago...at most. NOT SIXTEEN! (That math makes me older than I'd like) To us, he will always be the baby of the family. The baby who now rides and fixes dirt bikes for fun. The baby who solves a Rubik's Cube faster than I can find the end of cling film (excuse me – a week ago, you couldn't even hold a spoon.) The baby who is now taller than everyone else in the family. Okay, it's not much of a competition to be taller than me, but still, he's well over a head taller. When did this happen?

part I loved the best: spending a rainy summer day with little Cristal and Little My! It truly felt like I was from your vivid description. The video you posted with the cartoon translated in any language and what a delight to see culture transcend from a child's view!
Are you telling us you don't sing along to the opening song anymore? Smh...😂 I never watched Moomin (sorry!) but it's so nice the show left such an impression on little Cristal. And that opening theme sounds really beautiful in Estonian! I'm gonna assume that really is you in the picture. I'm also going to assume you were a troublemaker when you were little. 😂
