I laughed, I blushed, I let the objects do the talkin'

Dear Author Behind the Object,

Y'all did great.

Homies!! Wow!

When I first decided to host this challenge I honestly didn't have much expectation. While I have many subscribers, I have very few readers. Even the bots don't drop by that often (a blessing?). So, when I released this challenge, I was expecting maybe like 2 entries. But instead, you gave me 11 damn good letters.

And the variety! Wow.

We've got soiled cat litter, cheesy lovers, some passionate finger action, and more!

(Looking back on the line above, I realize the shenanigans I've instigated here. You're welcome.)

I had so much fun reading your entries, truly. Not only did the inanimate move me, your enthusiasm and participation did too. But before I get too gushy about all you lovely people, it's probably best that I go ahead with the winners of this challenge. And let me tell you, it was not easy choosing.

In third place...

~My Dearest Aqua by Cristal Beiked~

This one gave me goosebumps, no joke. The connection, the warmth, the longing... it was so beautiful. Cristal made every minute count between the two objects but also made every word count in this letter. And the description of steam and whistle being a call for love? That was poetic. And then Cristal went and said "you steep into me, through me"- UGH.

In second place...

~I Only Cut Because I Care by Carolina Borges~

This one hit me in a different way, in a super vulnerable way. Not sure if it was due to the objects, the way love and hurt entangle, or what. And then we got judgmental ladles! And a handsy human who keeps cutting the two apart. But the last line? "You were made to take me... and I was made to ruin you." It ruined me too.

and taking first place is...

~Strings Attached by Cathy (Christine Acheini) Ben-Ameh~

This one played me like a violin and kicked me right in the emotional guts! I absolutely got attached to this one. The way Cathy described the connection, the bond between player, to pick, to guitar- it was electric and igniting. Freakin' sexual even. I swear, I blushed MANY times. A gasp, a hand to the mouth in awe, damn! "We don’t make music. We make confessions."!!! Like c'mon!! This one made me deceased. Flat out. And in the end? This one left me "Dripping in dust and longing," too. Phew.

🔥

But let's not forget one more award...

The Most Unhinged Letter goes to...

Tim Carmichael's "My Dearest Sheet," because let's be real, that was UNHINGED.

The lines in this one just shook me. Shook me like an ol' washing machine on the verge of collapse. Reliable. But... teetering. I have to say Tim, you found a great pairing here, and you paired the two real well. And then you went and said, "My synthetic fibers trembled" which practically ended me from the start! But no, you continued with "You don’t peel me away like the others. You let me cling. You embrace my static with softness." - TIM! Like wow, you really got deep in the laundry pile here and just kept on going. #deadbutspringfresh

~

Anyhow, congratulations to everyone on your incredible letters of love and passion! You are all the best <3
