Hey Mummy, Hey Daddy, I Think I’m a Writer Now.

So here’s the thing. I’ve been writing. Like, really writing. Not just scribbling in a notebook and calling it a day, but actually publishing my work, being read, and yes, even getting paid.

This year, since I committed to writing again, something beautiful has happened. On Vocal, I’ve been awarded Top Story four times. Each of those came with a $5 tip, which may not sound like much, but it felt like a celebration every single time.

It hasn’t just been about the platform. It’s been the people. I’ve received support from subscribers, kind comments and appreciations on Buy Me a Coffee, and generous tips from fellow writers and readers here on Vocal. I’ve earned enough to treat myself to a movie, enjoy a good cup of coffee, and even got paid for one article, which felt like a quiet but powerful confirmation that I’m on the right path.

All of this, I truly believe, is by the grace of God. It’s not something I take lightly. Writing was something I once loved, then let go of because life got heavy. But now that I’ve returned to it, I feel like I’ve been gently and purposefully led back to this place where my voice belongs.

So this little note is my thank-you.

To Mummy and Daddy, thank you for always believing in me, even when I wasn’t sure of myself.

To my brothers, your beautiful wives, and my amazing nieces and nephew, thank you for your love and encouragement.

To every subscriber, reader, clapper, commenter, tip-giver, and fellow creative who has sent kindness my way, thank you for lifting me up.

I may not be paying rent with my words just yet, but I can see it coming. Slowly, steadily, and with faith.

So I think I can finally say it.

I’m a writer.

And that feels really good.
