Gabriel, the master of angels

Start Gabriel (Jibril), peace be upon him, is one of the great angels in Islam, known as the trustworthy spirit tasked with delivering God's revelations to the prophets. His story is renowned throughout various historical and Quranic events.

Gabriel came to him in the Cave of Hira to deliver the first verses of the Quran. In that critical moment, Gabriel said to the Prophet, "Read," and the Prophet replied, "I cannot read." Gabriel embraced him three times before saying, "Read in the name of your Lord who created," marking the beginning of the Quranic revelation.

Gabriel is described in the Quran and hadith as possessing immense strength and beauty. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) described seeing Gabriel in his true form, saying he had 600 wings stretching across the horizon. In addition to delivering revelations, Gabriel aided in battles, such as the Battle of Badr, where he fought alongside the Muslims.
