From Saying to Doing, There’s a Long Way (Actions Speak Louder Than Words)
This poem belongs to Chapter 2: Latin American Popular Sayings with a Soulful Adaptation.

There’s a stretch so long in that saying
that sometimes feels like an abyss,
a vortex that swallows your word,
your essence,
and also your worth.
You promise change.
Empty promises that never arrive,
and the echo of your words is lost in the wind.
Trust breaks apart
and people walk away.
And you wonder:
Who am I if I can’t keep what I say?
That makes you feel farther from yourself every time.
But in the darkness,
at that bottom where everything seems broken,
if you allow yourself,
a new seed can be born,
a stronger promise.
Not only to others,
but also to yourself.
One day you burn with courage
and decide to change,
to leave behind the noise,
the shadow,
and start over
in a place where you can hear yourself
clearer than ever.
You reclaim your word
and at the same time your power.
And so, step by step,
with certainty,
with patience
and perseverance,
you can recover your hope,
your wisdom,
and why not,
become the master of your truth again.
Because the stretch is not the end.
It’s just the path you have to walk
to become stronger,
more real
and happy…
and why not,
also the best version of yourself.
