Buzz, a new retro electric MPV, was officially launched at VW's Hanover plant, we have learned from overseas media. Buzz Cargo, with an estimated annual production capacity of 130,000 units. The Buzz will debut in March 2022 and will be priced in Europe shortly afterward. Buzz passenger version will start at €64,581 in Germany, compared to the ID.4's starting price of €48,691.
The VW Hannover plant, previously the birthplace of MPVs such as the Meteors, has been renovated over the past two years and now adds production capacity for pure electric models on the MEB platform. According to the report, VW expects to produce 15,000 units of ID. Buzz series during 2022 and gradually increase production capacity to eventually reach a total capacity of 130,000 units per year in response to the group's electrification transition.
The exterior of the new car continues the design elements of the Volkswagen T series models, with the large size of the badge plus the two-color body design, all paying tribute to the classic VW styling. In the front part, the new car still shares the same design sense as the ID series models, with a running light strip and matrix headlights, plus a large number of hollowed-out treatments in the front surround.
In addition, we can see from the front glass probe and the radar detector at the bumper, the car is expected to have a good assisted driving system. The side of the car, the new car A-pillar on the huge triangle window is more conspicuous, coupled with the side windows from the front to the back of the size gradually reduced, the overall shape is more unique. Body dimensions, the new car length, width, and height of 4712 mm/1985 mm/1937 mm respectively, wheelbase of 2988 mm
The rear part of the car also sees the shadow of the ID. family, with a running light belt with a square rear shape, which can meet as much as possible passenger space inside the car. The rear also has a huge VW logo and an ID. Buzz logo, which is highly recognizable.
Inside the car, the new car is still in the style of the VW ID. family interior, with a suspended LCD instrument and 12-inch center screen, as well as through the air conditioning vents, plus wood grain panel decoration, the overall refinement is greatly improved, and the same use of a two-color color scheme.
In addition, the car has a power sliding door on both sides in addition to a power tailgate. Since the five-seat model has only two rows of seats, the rear row forms a huge storage space, with the MPV's luggage compartment having a volume of 1,121 liters, which can be expanded to 2,205 liters with the second row down.
In terms of power, the new vehicle is equipped with a 77 kWh (total capacity 82 kWh) power pack, a motor with a maximum power of 150 kW, a peak torque of 310 N-m, and a top speed of 145 km/h. DC fast charging power can reach 170 kW, charging 5%-80% in about 30 minutes, while the WLTP range has not yet been announced. Meanwhile, the vehicle is equipped with advanced software systems, driver assistance systems, and two-way charging capabilities.
The ID. Buzz and ID. Buzz Cargo will also be equipped with the Car2X local traffic alert system as standard in the future, which provides real-time information on dangerous situations through signals shared by other vehicles and traffic facilities, and the Travel Assist full-speed domain driving assistance system will be available as an option, including features such as automatic highway lane change assistance.
