The Hedge Witch
I met a real-life hedge witch when I was a little girl traveling with my mom from Missouri to Arizona. We stopped at a commune, called ARF somewhere up in New Mexico. She was named ARF because there were so many dogs on the commune. We arrived very late and it was so dark we could bearly see the narrow path with our flashlights. The darkness was so dark it felt suffocating. We made our way through the dense pine trees, finally finding the main house, which is basically a community house where all visitors and people who live on the commune can come temporarily sleep, hang out, eat, and possibly have electricity and running water.

The Girl who Lived with Dragons
The Girl who Lives with Dragons Part One: Crystal hated her name. It felt forced and stereotypical, and she felt anything but. Which is why she’d made her way out of the Second Kingdom into the forest to find a way to the Vault of Dreams. She’d wanted to prove she was more than a dragon. But dragons didn’t often end up in the forest. Except green ones of course, those who had become almost part of the landscape. And there was the library dragon who lived with the fairy godmother in the S.H.O.E. but he hadn’t been out in years.

California, Here I Was
Here we are, at the beginning of another autumn. Kids are back in school, leaves are still hanging on, the temperature is falling, and everyone I know is still trying to get every last drop of summer before it runs out (half the people are still in shorts in my neighbourhood). I am wondering, quite seriously, how I am going to pay my rent at the end of the month – a lot of money will have to be moved around and begged for – and considering how this could coincide with my birthday (a terrible coincidence). And with all of this in mind, I have let the mind wander.

The Fascinating Secrets of Mayong, the Black Magic Capital of India
Mayong Village Is Eerie There are eerie, creepy tales abounding this place. People vanishing in thin air, men turning into beasts, dolls and skeletons dripping with blood, and even wild animals getting tamed magically. Yes, while there is no clear evidence of all this having happened, but the people of Mayong claim that they have seen stranger things happening beyond the realm of logical human thinking.

Believe in the Dragon
There weren’t always dragons in the valley. I am on my way up the hill with my pony, Rhubarb, to see the valley more clearly. I close my eyes. I can smell the sweet spring grass. I hear nothing but the wind in my ears and my eyes tear a little. I feel as light as the wind as I gallop along the trail up the hill to the clearing where we can see the whole valley.

Dunnydeer Hill and Recumbent Stone Circle (Aberdeenshire)
Driving south from Huntly (Aberdeenshire, Scotland) with the late afternoon beating down, my attention is repeatedly grabbed by a picturesque ruin standing on a little hill. It pops up first to the left then to the right; as the road winds, the ruin disappears and reappears. We of course have to stop when we turn a corner and an empty parking place appears in front of us. To my joy, there is a footpath sign which announces that it is 1km to the ruin and 0.5km to the standing stones - oh what sorcery is this? We will get to see some megaliths as well! These ancient stones pop up when they want to be seen.

My Crazy Adventure Across the World's Most Dangerous Land : Deadly trip to Islamabad from Kabul
As I sit here in a dirty Islamabad guesthouse, my mind drifts back to the journey that got me here. It all started about two weeks ago, when I got a call from a contact in Pakistan. He told me that there was a way for me to get into the country through the tribal areas near the Afghan border.
