And because the heart-shaped island of Tasmania is located at the southernmost tip of Australia, Antarctica is within easy reach of crossing the Channel. Antarctica is a continent with no permanent inhabitants, so Tower Island has the title of the end of the world. If you look at a map of the world, Tasmania and Antarctica are literally at the end of the human world, just across the sea.
