Two Weeks of a Lady's Life in the Dramatic Landscapes of Colorado and Utah
This is the second instalment of a recent road trip. You can read the first one here: Fountain was our first stop. The KOA was adequate: the pool by my boys' and husband's assessment better suited for younger kids but the facilities provided us with what we needed. With the dawn came hunger and the need to get some supplies. We had linens but the cabins had no means to do any cooking, never mind it not being allowed. So, it was time to get some rudimentary kitchenware and food to provide us with lunches on our day trips.

Author's note: The title of this travelogue was inspired by Isabella Bird, whose book accompanied me on some of the days of this trip. She was a remarkable woman and you can read about her here:

St. Louis Along the Mississippi River
The icon of St. Louis is the Gateway Arch standing 192 meters high on the Missouri edge of the banks of the Mississippi The arch honors the frontiersmen and women who ventured westward to discover the Great Plains, and the Rockies and made their way to California. What If Superman was Black?
I mean I was rewatching black lightning again after just recently finishing the show Smallville and as much as the plot – AKA Tom Welling caught my eye - *laughs*, there was an interview in the news in the first episode of black lightning where the interviewer asked a question as to why black heroes are a menace rather than accepted immediately as heroes. Then it got me thinking of how the black heroes in DC and Marvel are not very many.

Exploring Mississippi
The Gulf Islands National Seashore stretches from Cat Island in Mississippi to the eastern tip of Santa Rosa Island in Florida. Even though most of the seashore is submerged, the barrier islands have white-sand beaches, coastal marshes, and dense maritime forests. Here you’ll find hiking trails, camping, and areas in which to picnic. There are also old forts and recreational opportunities such as kayaking and snorkeling. At the seashore, you’ll find several visitor centers. Fort Pickens has volunteers who can answer your questions.
