So You Want To Travel, Huh?

An Insight to What to Expect as a New Traveler

If you were born with the wanderlust gene and a fernweh to travel the world, see the many beautiful places and conquer adventures you never imagined you’d experience, then welcome to the club.

You see, there’s thousands of us. You are not alone, my sweet friend. At one point, back in our pre-historic days, we were all nomads at heart. At that point, we were kind of forced to be in order to survive. Fast forward a few millennium, and what do ya know? Our suppressed nomad spirit has once again returned with vengeance. Only this time, we are not forced by our primal instincts in order to survive, but are forced by our inner desire to release our calling to explore. Of course, there’s always been explorers throughout time, but somehow, the call has risen dramatically recently. If you don’t believe me, check Instagram. You’ll see what I’m talking about. Everyone and their cat wants to travel.

It’s like a whole new revolution has begun, and we have finally awoken, and realized that there is so much more to life than the endless nine to five work life. We have been brain washed our entire lives thinking success was excelling in high school, graduating college, finding that perfect career, and then having a family, and settling down in the suburbs in a nice house, with a white picket fence.

Nowadays, the all American dream just doesn’t sound so appealing anymore. It is outdated, and somewhat terrifying. The fact of settling down in one place means that you’ll be stuck in one place, and the thought of that, is enough to give me a full blown panic attack.

My point is, the wanderlust gene is strong, my young one. It is something you cannot ignore for long. It will be with you until the day you are buried beneath the Earth. We are a greedy bunch, because experiencing one place is just not enough. We will always need MORE in order to fill our hearts with that “wow” feeling.

We crave the unknown. We crave a new culture, a new story, and memories to share. When we share, don’t think of it as bragging. It's more on the lines of enlightening. Travelers want others to know of the beauty this world holds so that you too can experience the pure bliss we walk away from it with. We want you to know that there are amazing people out there that you will meet that will change your life forever. Most of the world is a friendly place. You’d be surprised at how friendly and helpful people are. Never judge a book by its cover.

Travelers have this alluring and sensitive nature about them. They are accepting, non-judgemental, and very open-minded individuals whose personalities are like nothing you’ll find in the real world. They are wild in spirit, and free citizens of the world. Travelers love helping others, especially when it comes to travel advice.

We want you to understand that traveling isn’t always beautiful. When you see the world, you’ll also see it’s negative side. There are plenty of sketchy places out there. People will try to take advantage of you, you’ll see horrible living conditions and probably get mugged a time or too, but listen to your fellow travelers. We’ve been there, done that, and have lived to tell the story and offer up useful tips to avoid getting yourself out of situations like that.

Every traveler is a natural story teller full of experiences unlike any other. Let us tell you a story. You never know. You might actually benefit from it in the long run, especially if you find yourself in a sketchy situation. You’ll thank us later. I honestly encourage everyone to get out there and travel. It’s hard, I know, but it’s only as hard as you make it. Like I said in the beginning, you are not the only one who travels. There are travelers of plenty of backgrounds, coming from predicaments they never imagined escaping from.

All you have to do is take a leap of faith, and believe that it will all work itself out, and go after it with full force and determination to succeed. It will happen, my friend, but only if you want it hard enough. Nothing ever came easy with out a little work.
