I bet your wondering what it would be like to spend the day in Camden, Maine? I was born and raised in Maine and for all of my life have had the pleasure of enjoying day trips and vacation trips in the beautiful State of Maine.
This summer, I revisited Camden, Maine and have found that it remains unchanged as in unspoiled by outsiders wishing to construct around the harbor that would impede the natural beauty that lies within.
Let's take a quick walk down to the harborside where one can find many small country shops and a few dining options. As you can see, time truly stands still not just here but in many areas of Maine.

While walking along the pier, one is aware of how the sounds of the harbor are distinct from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. You'll take pleasure in stopping along the way to take in the scenery, take some pictures or just sit and relax. On this particular day, it is just before midday and some dining guests are about to arrive. The lines are usually short and you can get seated at a table with views of the harbor. The staff are friendly at the local shops and restaurants as they enjoy having some light conversation with you. Business owners in Maine have a personal charm that you'll notice right away. You will hear the Mainer's accent which is unique of all the New England states.

Maine's best kept secret is that we have the most delicious and fresh lobster catch-of-the-day meals. When in Maine, one must indulge and consume some seafood cuisine. I'm craving some lobster right now while creating this story! Take your time while dining and enjoy your meal with your surroundings. Be sure to order some New England Clam Chowder, Lobster Stew or New England Fish Chowder. These hot meals will help warm you up if you feel a bit chilly from the Northern wind.
Some other activities that you can do while visiting Camden is to grab some homemade treats, such as fudge, candy or ice cream. Maine is famous for their classic Whoopie Pies and Blueberry Pies.

You can enjoy the sights and sounds of the harbor while sitting in one of the many benches along the pier. This is a good place to catch up on some reading. I love to watch the boats in the harbor while sipping on a glass of wine and enjoying some great conversation.

If your up for adventure, there are some short boat excursions for which you can purchase tickets and head out onto the water with your friends and family. Most often your boat captain will be sharing tales of the fishermen who will engage younger family members in learning about the marine animals. The tour guides may even show you some real live lobsters that they have on board the boat. One can listen and learn about life in this area through some good, comedic narrators of the harbor. Don't forget to pack a light jacket or sweatshirt as it can be cool out on the water during your boat ride.
In the mood to catch some sun and surf? Take a short drive away from the pier to Camden's local public beach area which is just down the road. You can enjoy a picnic, walk along the beach or just soak up some sun. There are many picnic tables set up where you can be free to enjoy your lunch, snacks or drinks. Look for some seashells while your at it.

You can go for a hike at one of the walking trails in this area to take in some more views that Camden has to offer. How about a solo bicycle ride or group ride? Whatever your inclined to do for fun it will be waiting for you just around the corner. Don't hesitate to ask for the local map, activity brochures or ask someone for activity suggestions.

Stop and smell the roses that are in natural bloom. This is just a taste of what it is like on a summer day trip or summer vacation in Maine. Of course, anytime vacationers arrive during the year to visit Maine, they are welcomed and appreciated. We love having tourists and visitors here in our State and our slogan is: Maine, "The Way Life Should be"
Hope to see you soon!
