New to Royal Caribbean

Embarking on a cruise vacation is an exciting adventure, and if you've chosen Royal Caribbean as your cruise line, you're in for an unforgettable experience. My family had the pleasure on to take a 7-night Eastern Caribbean & Perfect Day on Oasis of the Seas in March of 2023. First, I would like to say that this was my very first time cruising with Royal, and I can honestly say that I will be back. Whether you're a seasoned traveler or your first time setting foot on a cruise ship, this blog post will guide you through what to expect on your Royal Caribbean cruise, helping you make the most of your vacation.

Check-In and Boarding Process: Upon arrival at the port, you must complete the check-in process. I recommend doing this early by using the website or App. Ensure you have all the necessary documents, such as your passport and cruise confirmation, handy. Royal Caribbean's check-in process is usually streamlined, allowing for a smooth embarkation. If you are like me, you want to maximize your experience as much as possible on the ship and may want to board early. I recommend buying the key if within your budget. You will have priority access to the terminal carry-on bag drop off to your stateroom, private time for onboard activities, priority tender ports of call, exclusive lunch onboarding day, Voom internet, VIP seating to shows, and, lastly, debarkation breakfast.

Ship Amenities and Activities: One of the highlights of cruising with Royal Caribbean is the wide array of amenities and activities available onboard. You'll find something to suit your interests, from multiple dining options and live entertainment to pools, spas, and fitness centers. Don't forget to explore the various themed bars, lounges, shopping areas, and casinos.-- I recommend booking early via the app or website. This is especially true for those traveling with large parties.

Accommodation Options: Royal Caribbean offers a range of staterooms to cater to different preferences and budgets. From cozy interior cabins to spacious suites with private balconies, you can choose the accommodation that suits you best. Remember that the price and availability may vary depending on the ship and sailing date, so book early for the best selection. I had three adults and 1 child with my travel party, and we were fairly comfortable in a large balcony stateroom. However, I maximize the space with a simple list like "CruiseCompanion: Your All-Inclusive Voyage Kit".

Dining Options: Prepare to indulge in various culinary delights while onboard. Royal Caribbean's ships feature numerous dining venues, including main dining rooms, specialty restaurants, casual eateries, and room service. Many of these options are included in your cruise fare, while others may require an additional fee. Don't miss out on trying the diverse cuisines and specialty dishes offered onboard. In most cases, the unlimited dining package can save you lots of money; however, you don't need to buy one if it is not within your budget. As my first time sailing with Royal, I opted to skip this additional add-on and tried their new dining menu. I can say wholeheartedly that we made the right choice. The dining stewards were great, made the experience enjoyable, and advised us on the menu options most suited for us (especially for my teen).

Entertainment and Activities: Royal Caribbean is renowned for its world-class entertainment options. Prepare to be amazed by Broadway-style shows, ice skating performances, live music, comedy acts, and more. Additionally, the ships offer a range of activities such as rock climbing, surfing, mini-golf, and even onboard water parks. Be sure to check the daily cruise planner for a schedule of events and plan your days accordingly. I recommend booking as early as possible most comedy shows book really fast.

Excursions and Ports of Call: A Royal Caribbean cruise allows for exploring various destinations. Depending on your itinerary, you can disembark at exciting ports of call and participate in shore excursions. There's something for everyone, from snorkeling and zip-lining to exploring historical sites or simply lounging on pristine beaches. Research the ports in advance to make the most of your time ashore. My family had the most fun at Perfect Day at CocoCay; we stayed at the thrill park; however, there are so many areas to enjoy at no cost.

Embarking on your first Royal Caribbean cruise is an exciting journey filled with endless possibilities. With many amenities, dining options, entertainment, and destinations to explore, you're bound to create lasting memories.
