My Divine Adventure

A Journey of a Traveling Humanitarian

By Love EvePublished 5 years ago 4 min read

I am a nomad.

Solo travel has become second nature and my way of life. Living out of a suitcase and changing airports, flights, hotels, cultures, scenery and time zones has become the only constant in my life and there is no other path I would choose to follow.

I may no longer have my own cozy nest to settle into and yet I feel right at home nearly everywhere I travel. I may not have my loved ones near me and yet I sense a deep connection with everyone I meet. I’ve realized that all of humanity is my beloved family - my brothers and sisters with whom I share an endless cosmic bond.

I am a traveling humanitarian with a mission to help as many children as I can around the world. The poorest and most vulnerable babies whose suffering most people cannot fathom, witness, or understand.

My humanitarian journey began on July 4th of 2019, the day I symbolically named “My Independence Day”, when I left New York City to travel the world alone in search of my own truth. And I have been a nomad ever since.

In my travels I have lived in many diverse places, such as Bali, India, Turkey, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Costa Rica, Russia, Hawaii, New York, and more. What started out as vacationing for my own pleasure evolved into missionary work and a formation of my nonprofit organization. Never thought I'd say this but here I am - gracefully and passionately living my dream.

Why do you choose this lifestyle? - some people ask. The answer is simple - to feed my Soul. This road into the unknown is the wild roar that my life was missing, the fearless exploration and adventure, the shared compassion and communication, the unpredictable and spontaneous life experiences that widen my worldview, expand my mind, enrich my heart, and elevate my spirit.

On my journey across the planet I am blessed to touch the lives of hundreds of impoverished young individuals. In India, for instance, I help many children who barely have a cup of rice to eat each day, who wake up and go to bed hungry.

Unfortunately, these children are trapped in a brutal caste system where they can't afford to go to school and may never have an opportunity to learn how to read or write, to complete their education, get a good job and end the cycle of extreme poverty for their own children in the future. They will remain illiterate and poor like the generations before them, unless caring humanitarian organizations step in to help them.

Most of these children will never play a musical instrument, or color with paints and crayons, or do anything that would allow them to express their creativity and fuel their imagination, as all kids should in order to have a happy prosperous childhood.

Many of the children I have met are "lucky" to have a pair of shoes to wear, or pants, or even underwear. They may never even touch a book, a pencil or a notebook. They don't own a single toy to play with, instead they dig through mounds of garbage for scraps of food and clothing (rag picking), and for things they could sell in the streets in order to survive (child labor). Their lives are filled with sorrow and hardship for they have been forgotten by society.

Despite it all, they laugh and stay cheerful, inspiring any daring person visiting them from the "first world", such as myself. Such experiences change me forever and this is why I do it – I wander the world with my gentle mission to help as many children as humanly possible. To me a smile on a child’s face is as beautiful and precious a sparkling star in the sky. It brings me to tears, I love all children on earth. Not everyone may understand this, but I know I am not alone.

Next year I have even bigger plans! Although 2020 has shaken up the world and changed most people's travel plans with the impeding panic and pandemic, in 2021 I hope to be able to continue my missionary travels, problem and worry free.

I plan to return back to India, Turkey and Hawaii to visit my newfound families of beautiful devoted change-makers - a major source of inspiration behind my humanitarianism. They are teaching me through action how to be a part of solution on a ground grassroots level.

I also plan to visit a continent I've never traveled to before – Africa, lovingly referred to as the Cradle of Life. It has been a lifelong dream of mine and I am so excited to make the preparations for my travels. In Kenya I will meet a group of young hardworking volunteers who invited me to come support their mission to spread the word about female genital mutilation. Yes, it is still happening to thousands of little girls today, it is insane and beyond horrific, and this barbaric practice needs to stop forever.

Kenya is known for miles of gorgeous white sandy beaches, nature reserves, national parks, and wildlife safari. Besides focusing on my humanitarian mission, I plan to explore Kenya’s natural beauty and I look forward to meeting new friends.
