Some of the loveliest riverside towns in the US

Nevada City, California
Nevada City is a 150-year-old town on the South Yuba River.

People enjoy swimming holes, hiking trails, and camping as well as kayaking and white-water rafting.
You can dive off of the granite cliffs at Rush Creek. Follow the Rush Creek Trail. For excitement, there is the Sugar Bowl a single-track mountain bike trail.

It is located in the Tahoe National Forest.

There are also five vineyards to explore.
Durango, Colorado

Durango is located on the banks of the Animas River which flows from the peaks of the San Juan Mountains through downtown Durango. Here people enjoy celebrating the river culture with rafting, kayaking, and tubing. The Animas River flows parallel to Main Street.

Nature lovers enjoy the Weminuche Wilderness, lush meadows, and lovely aspen groves.
Macon, Georgia

Macon sits on the banks of the Ocumulgee River. The town is known for its riverfront walking trails, kayaking, and wildlife sightings.

You can enjoy nature at the Ocmulgee Mounds National Historical Park.

In March 350,000 Yoshino cherry trees burst into bloom and you can see all the beauty by attending the International Cherry Blossom Festival.

Stroll the streets of the beautiful Downtown area.
Boise, Idaho

The town of Boise is located on the Boise River in southwest Idaho at the foothills of the Rocky Mountains.

It has more than twenty parks and pedestrian bridges.

People enjoy recreation along the Ridge to Rivers Trial System.

The town is vibrant due to college students at the Boise State University which is home to the Bronco’s.
Davenport, Iowa

Davenport is located on the north banks of the Mississippi River in eastern Iowa.

It is the largest town in the company of Bettendorf, Moline, and Rock Island across the river and is altogether known as the urban complex Quad Cities along with a restored Fort Armstrong, They’re easily accessible by boat from the town.

Enjoy nature in the Vander Veer Botanical Park.

Art lovers will enjoy the Figge Art Museum.
Missoula, Montana

Missoula is at the edge of Western Montana where five mountain ranges converge. The town sits at the confluence of the Clark Fork, Black Foot, and Bitterroot Rivers. It is popular for fly-fishing and whitewater rafting.

Enjoy the Montana Museum of Art & Culture.

For recreation people enjoy Caras Park where you can picnic and in the summer enjoy open-air concerts.

Next to the park, you’ll find A Carousel for Missoula, a wooden hand-carved and volunteer-built carousel.
Since Missoula is located in the Northern Rockies local wildlife includes white-tailed deer, moose, grizzly bears, black bears, osprey, and bald eagles.
Along streams, you can spot wood ducks and beavers.
Asheville, North Carolina

Asheville is located in the Blue Ridge Mountains at the confluence of the Swannanoa and French Broad Rivers. Both locals and visitors enjoy the many waterfalls that can be accessed from the Blue Ridge Parkway.

You can see Upper Whitewater Falls which is the highest waterfall east of the Rockies. For recreation, people have access to three rivers – the French Broad River, the Nantahala River, and the Nolichucky River.

The French Broad River offers tubing in the summer and places to have a picnic.

Art lovers enjoy the River Arts District with many studios and galleries found right on the riverbanks.
Bend, Oregon

Bend is surrounded by the Cascade Mountains with wild pine forests. The Deschutes River flows right through the town.

At nearby Mount Bachelor visitors can enjoy biking, camping, hiking, and skiing in the winter.

What is amazing about Bend is that it sits in a high desert bordered by the Deschutes National Forest.

The High Desert Museum offers wildlife, culture, art, and natural resources on display.
Leavenworth,Washington

Leavenworth is situated two hours from Seattle. It has an unusual Alps town atmosphere, The town is at the confluence of the Icicle and Wenatchee Rivers.

This picturesque town is in the Cascade Mountains.

Enjoy the charming Bavarian Village.
