Austin Museum Day 2018
This past Sunday was the annual Austin Museum Day event where many local museums around Austin were free and open to the public. Museum Day itself is an initiative started by the Smithsonian Magazine. Now many cities around the country, including Austin, created their version of Museum Day, which is the same day as the Smithsonian Magazine's national day.

Lucky Trip - An Unbiased Anecdotal Review of a Lowkey Service
Let me start off this article by disclosing that I in no way work for or am affiliated with Lucky Trip at all (as much as I'd love to be). I simply utilised their service earlier this summer and I'd like to share my experience of it. I would also like to disclose that I am from the UK, and Lucky Trip only seem to, at the moment, cater for people from the UK.

Exploring the Columbia River Gorge
I’ve driven through this amazing gorge in the past and gazed upon it’s beauty, but never really stopped and explored the area, so that’s exactly what we did last weekend and it’s one of my favorite locations in both Washington and Oregon, as it is located on both sides.

Encounters Under Polar Lights
A journalist is a strange creature: his or her senses are heightened by the prospect of encountering unusual, uncanny, better—odd expressions of human actions, which may or may not testify to the better side of human nature. He, and at this point, we shall simply agree that the gender inclusive ‘he or she’ should be implied in the use of the old-fashioned ‘he’ in order to make this narrative less cumbersome for the reader, is honed to seek out those oddities that have recently become the most precious currency for the media in the age of commodified sameness. For such a hyper curious journalist, Russia, and especially its outskirts (aptly called the Province – note the singular, as if, for a Russian, ‘province’ is not just a place, a part, or a region, but a country of its own), is a bottomless source of odd and, as this journalist believes, often touchingly human moments. Below I would like to present some of these odd moments taken from my travels to the Russian Far North.

Swanage - Dorset - End of First Full Day
Introduction I have a guide book “Bournemouth Poole and District” published by Ward Locks in the 1950s. Once the reader gets past the pages of advertisements for Burberry coats, household insurance and for other holiday resorts around the country there are short articles about places to go.

Old Things of Fukushima
When I arrived in Japan the summer was turning late again. My Daihatsu Move was still waiting in a parking lot with its bright white finish as though I had never left. The ride from Osaka Airport was smooth. It occurred to me that the last time I had flown into Osaka Airport I had been in middle school and it had been the start of my first glimpse into Japan. I had become aware at that moment in 2011 that some giant wheel in a far off room had clicked left one notch to signal a new beginning when I again found myself landing in the peculiar yet familiar Osaka Airport. For anyone who has never flown into this airport before it is sure to be a surprise as the airport is completely surrounded by the sea. As the plane approaches one may have the exhilarating and perhaps uneasy sensation that the plane will be landing on water as at the last minute a small landing strip appears out of nowhere and in an instant the plane touches down on a solid tarmac. I was able to take a train to the residence where my car had been parked. It was sitting in the same place where I had left it as though it had known that I was coming back. I started up the engine and headed north. I don't think Daniel was in the area. He was the teacher that had opened his residence to me and many other teachers months before. I wanted to thank him and express my gratefulness for his hospitality. Sometimes moments cannot be fulfilled all at one time. With this thought and wonderment I pulled out of the parking lot and prepared for the next leap.

Swanage - Dorset - England - Day 1
INTRODUCTION Our AirBnB was so comfortable for our first night, it forced us to have a bit of a lie in. We were just that bit too far from the coast to hear the sea, as it was such a calm day. However, with the door open we could feel the warm westerly breeze, hear it as it passed through the trees and the garden birds making the most of the last warm days of late summer.
