Find Your Respect for Nature
As I flew out of Anchorage, Alaska, headed back to my lab in Colorado, I saw the beautiful glaciers in the mountains. This image tells a story of beauty and sadness. You can see the light of the setting sun reflecting off the glaciers and lakes. But it’s sad to think that if action isn’t taken, they soon will be gone.

Fresh Donuts Daily
Everything on the mountain was wet that morning except for me and my gear. I was set up between two close growing juniper trees, in a tent and under two tarps. I had a fire pit at the edge of the outer tarp where I'd been able to sit warm and dry by the fire during the rain the night before. I woke to live coals and blew my fire to life. The coals in the sky were lit too, and I let the sun dry the outer side of my tarps while I dunked ginger cookies in hot coffee.

The Chicago Pedway
Chicago is a town with secrets. Beneath the glitz and glimmer of the lake shore, behind the empty facades of knickknack shops and import gurus, and beneath the rumble of trains and the clomp of a thousand feet, stories wait to be discovered. Whispers someone might never find spending an entire life walking these concrete canyons, until they took a wrong turn and let the city swallow them up.

Geotagging Crisis - Keeping the Wilderness Wild. Top Story - July 2019.
This photo may look wild and remote. But the truth is that we shared a path with hundreds, maybe even thousands of people with selfie sticks, hiking up the steep path to the iconic Storr. The road below was lined with the cars of these eager visitors, causing traffic jams.

Survey and Self Aware
For anyone choosing to embark on any trip I'd always recommend a bit of forethought. With equipment being such a big part of a travel, being informed is absolutely mandatory. Even if you're just backpacking somewhere you should never just throw a bag over your shoulder and go. Bags fit a certain way, or sometimes not at all. Not all gear is made the same. Any tool taken with you has pros and cons.
