One more day in the sun
Birthdays were never my thing. As a child, it was right up there with Christmas in terms of the juice not being worth the squeeze. The day just never measured up to my expectations. I was an April baby in a sea of December babies. My Sister was born on December 6, my father, on December 14, my mother, on December 23. The entire month of December was always one long hand clap and balloon festival after another. It all culminated, of course, with the birthday celebration of all celebrations...the birth of Jesus. I was always exhausted by the time the New Year rolled around, and it seemed as if my family felt the same way. When it was time for my birthday, there were no thoughtful gifts, no big celebrations, or energy. It didn't help that we were living in Chicago, a place that is known to skip Spring altogether. As Prince once famously sang, "Sometimes it snows in April." In Chicago, that happened a lot. There were typically no festive lights to commemorate my birthday, just gray, dreary sky.

Where would you take a vacation if you could?
My great-grandparents came from Denmark, making their home in Nephi Utah. I do not recall any specific stories from my grandmother who was a full-blooded Dane but just the fact that I am a quarter Danish makes Denmark an appealing place for me to visit.

Tintagel Castle
Many travellers desire the sun blazing down on their pale skin as they lay on a white, sandy beach with a good book and a cocktail. I can see the attraction, especially at a harsh time like this, but what we could all use right now is a miracle full of magic and wonder.

Out of our current situation. Out of our houses. Away from the coronavirus and the news and the deaths and destruction.

I Left My Heart in A Provincial Town. Second Place in Virtual Postcard Challenge.
Whenever I’m asked where I’m from I say ‘Oxford’. It’s a lie, really. I was born in Milton Keynes, and spent the rest of my life escaping the place. (For context, the most interesting thing about Milton Keynes is that it has 130 roundabouts — “and that number is growing tall the time” according to the MK tourism site.) The happiest of my childhood was spent in Oxford, but to this day, it has never managed to feel like home.

Palermo Peak Climbing
Pachermo peak climbing is an enticing straight forward snowy peak lying south of Tashi Labtsa which was summited by Phil Boultbee and Dennis Davis in 1955. In reality though, trekking in Nepal is not anything shocking and not too out of the ordinary for anybody who has been on a long hike.
