When Darkness Meets Light
It was late January when my friend asked me last minute to embark on this novel adventure with her, one that would require waking at 3:00 a.m. in order to be able to meet the requisite of connecting with the rest of our crew at the base of Mt. Washington, New Hampshire.

The Sands Of Monahans
It was a spur of the moment decision. We were about four hours into our eight hour drive home when I saw the sign for the Monahans Sandhills State Park. I took the exit immediately, not telling my partner we were going for a small adventurous detour. This deviation was unexpected and short lived, but more than worth the experience that we gained!

We Put In What We Take Out
There are fewer places on earth that calm, nurture and inspire the human spirit more than the ocean. The rhythmic beats of the rolling waves as they sweep across the sand; the faint cooling breeze as it brushes your face washed with a summer sunset. The ocean is our greatest source of life, comfort and fun; it centres the mind, and like all great partnerships we take out what we put in. There are few photographs which remind me of that notion than the one above – and the irony is, it wasn’t planned.

Connecting with Mother Earth
Is there anything more lovely, than being able to take in natural beauty that mother earth offers? Nature is so beautiful! The way it speaks out in a warm summers day. The brightness of the sun compared with the coolness of the sky. I find peace and solace whenever I am outdoors. It feels like being connected to the earth, and my breath is always taken away by the beauty of it all. I have to say that ever since the pandemic arrived, and disrupted everything, i never got the chance to really appreciate it all . With coronavirus and all, it feels as if we’ve been trapped indoors for far too long. Not recentely did I start going out more to the nature preserves and taking more pictures of trees, clouds, and more since I love taking pictures of nature. Since it is summer, and the quarantine restrictions were uplifted, I said what the heck? For me, being outdoors fills my body with peace and hope. Like my spirits lift when I feel the fresh coolness of the afternoon wind. It makes me feel alive as I am connecting with Mama Earth. Further being outdoors is highly benefical for humankind! In fact, there’s lots of evidence that suggests that being outdoors is highly influential on increasing mental wellness—another good reason to love nature!! It’s so important to take that into consideration, our own mental wellbeing especially in times like these. I know that my mental health declined a little bit during the pandemic, but since summer has arrived, I discovered how to cope with the overwhelming emotions that I feel at times. Being out and about. One of the pictures i decided to use was when i went to the chicago botanic garden last year with a close friend of mine. This was prior to the pandemic but nevertheless I was captivated by what I saw. How do I describe the Chicago botanic garden? It’s a nature preserve gardens located in the suburbs of Chicago. When I went there for the first time, I was deeply in awe of how majestic it was being there. Seeing all the different types of flowers, all the different exhibits evoked different types of emotions. Emotions such as contentment, joy, and love consumed me as I was walking down the pathway seeing lilies, tulips and roses in every which way. That first shot made me truly appreciate what mama earth offers, and it allowed me to reflect on how many things I have taken for granted. I enjoyed the scenery so much that I decided to take a snapshot of it. I liked the lake, and the reflection of the lake in contrast with the sharp, vivid green grass. I remember walking in that Chicago botanic garden, it made me feel hopeful. And hope is something we all need, especially in these trying times. It’s normal to feel hopeless in times like these, and I know I have. But I feel like all hope is not lost and it shouldn’t be lost. To me, being out there is fully processing what it means to be living in this time, but bringing in and thinking of all the positives that we can think of, of being truly present in the current moment which is seeing these tiny miracles happening in front of us. I believe that we get to see miracles happening in front of our eyes every single day, but because we have become so used to it, that it just feels mundane. Imagine a world where there was no nature to appreciate for its beauty, what a world that would be? That’s why I like thinking of how nature brings in miracles. Think about how seasons change, and how quickly they come and go. But since we live in such a fast paced environment, ready to get the next list in our tasks be completed, that we forget to be appreciative what’s right there in front of our eyes. The natural beauty bringing in peace, and hope.

"Lets hit the trails!!!"
Greetings from Roselle :) My name is Antoine and I just turned 30! What an age to turn for me because I feel it is when we have no choice but to become an adult and take our lives more seriously. No kids yet, but I have an elder in my life that I look after which can be challenging at times. If you can relate, elders can be challenging at times because they seem to have learned a lot of what we have to experience, like it or not, which makes them seem stubborn when you feel right about your own decisions. However, we still have to live through those experiences. Life is a journey! It just goes on and on by the grace of god as we live and we learn. Learning to love every bit of it considering that we only live once and with so much creativity we can make it very exciting which leads to my latest venture. One day, I decided to start biking! After all, seems like the law of attraction was just throwing them at me every time I turned around. I found out it's one of the best forms of transportation as well as just to get out and explore in all while getting nature. It's also one of the best ways to get some exercise and strengthen your quadriceps!

- My Temple -
One of my favorite ways to clear my mind is by going on a walk. There’s something about being on my own in nature, forests especially, that allows me to relax and lift my spirits. Almost like a type of therapy. The forest is my place of peace, my temple if you will. Whenever I feel sad, lost, or like I’m at a crossroads, I either go for a run in the woods or I just walk. I’ll look around marveling at the beauty of the world and its incredible resilience over the millions of years it’s seen. Almost like the world sets all my struggles into perspective. I’ll walk and walk and then stop occasionally to admire a certain tree, view, or flower formation. What always stops me in my tracks is the wind rushing through the leaves, making the trees sway back and forth, rattling every big and small leaf. The way that same breeze hits my face and blows through my hair, the cooling touch gently piercing my skin sending a light shiver down my spine. If my soul could have a sound, that is it. The sound of the wind rushing through the trees. I just stop, close my eyes, and take a breath. At the end of my walk, it feels like whatever I was dealing with has been solved... Okay maybe not. But it certainly feels lighter and more bearable. I open myself up to the world and it gives me answers in the form of breezes, butterflies, and flora.
