Grace as my Narrative
Seven years ago, my feet walked the beaches of the Bay of Bengal. It was as if I was living someone else’s life. A dream for sure. There for business and fun but my mind’s eye was as excited as a child’s who shakes a snow globe over and over again and can’t believe the magic in front of her.

Invisible No Longer. Top Story - September 2020.
In the 1800’s, when New Zealand was colonised, the ancient and sacred female tattooing practice of moko kauae began to fade away. Its very existence was placed under threat alongside the spiritual culture and identity of Māori. Yet, what was initially thought to be lost by the devastating impact of colonisation, has now begun to blossom once again; meaning that a whole new generation of Māori women can wear their identity with pride.

DAY 1 4:25 PM – I am eating the second half of a poorly assembled Turkey Bacon Wrap I purchased at Walmart earlier that day in the back of Cody’s car on the way to the airport, contemplating chronologically capturing the events of my trip… I let the idea go…

MY LOVELY TATTOO
It all happened when I was visiting my parents in Connecticut! My niece asked me if I wanted to get a tattoo, I told her Yes. The next day she had off work and we went to the tattoo place. When we arrived there we talked to the artist and let her know what we wanted. I wanted the tattoo on my ankle, and I wanted a picture of a vine with a bird on it. My niece wanted a more simple tattoo than I did. We waited in the waiting room for about an hour. Then the artist called us into the room and showed the drawing to us. I said to her I really liked it and I wanted her to do it. My niece also liked hers and she wanted the artist to do the tattoo. The artist cautioned us it would hurt. I told her that I could stand the pain and I wanted it done.

Travel Diaries: Playa Negra — Vieques, Puerto Rico
Two days ago, we left our landlocked hilltop casita to find water. We drive down the main road while I pull out my Google Maps app. Jim tells me to put it away. Of course he already knows where he is going and navigates with confidence and ease.

Superior Goods + Superior Coffee
Nested on 4th Street in Downtown Troy, NY stands a beautiful space filled with curated items thoughtfully chosen as well as amaing coffee and food. It was a happy accident, coming across Superior Merchandise Company. My husband (who was then my boyfriend at the time) wanted to find a new spot to try out but stay local. We enjoy supporting local businesses in our small city of Troy and I had chosen this small, interesting coffee shop.

Folly Beach
As a Northerner, when I think of the beach in South Carolina, I think Myrtle Beach. I have fond memories from visits as a child and last November I took a morning walk on the beach before a I vended at the Mythical and Medieval Festival (I’m going again this year and I hope to see you there!). With the danger of COVID, I hadn’t visited any beach this summer. With summer quickly disappearing and kids in school, I headed to Folly Beach. Just outside of Charleston, this little town has lots to offer.
