About Paigah Tombs
The tombs are an architectural marvel among the various other historic places in Hyderabad. Spanning across an area of around 40 acres, Paigah Tombs have been decorated with the tales of the brave Paigah. These tales are engraved on various palettes and epitaphs across the place and describe the story of the Nizam and Paigah. The structure of the tombs is known for its Indo-Saracenic style, which is a rare piece of architecture.

The Female Matador
I met Joel and Katie in Barcelona as they began the first leg of their two week anniversary where they were to start here in the city before touring the countryside. Having been inseparable friends since school I immediately changed my backpacking route when I heard of their travel plans. Together we three ex-pats took to the city for a weekend immersed in sights and culture in an attempt to relive the days of Hemingway and the Fitzgeralds as they traveled across Europe. The first day began with a walk down the Ramblas Market where street performers gestured for coins and workers passed out fliers for restaurants and clubs among the many handlers of live animals and peddlers of local wares all vying for a moment of a tourist’s attention. Later we basked in the beauty of Gaudi Park and his unfinished cathedral rising toward the sky like spires of champagne. That night it was tapas and alcohol and smoking as only vacationers do. I admit I had difficulty finding sustenance in the meager meal portions or the light and simple beers having recently indulged in the rich heartiness that Ireland, Scotland and Germany had offered but I enjoyed the company and the change in culture and the feeling that we would always be this young and adventurous in my mind. At the end of the night while taking in a Flamenco show on the courtyard we decided our last day would be spent watching one of Spain’s most proud and significant traditions; a bull fight. We had seen posters earlier for one happening at a coliseum not far away and though Katie winced at the idea of the violence she relented to join us and so we retired to our separate rooms to sleep off the night and begin fresh in the morning.

A WANDERING MAN!
"Oh shoot! that's hot", Karen yelped as she reached into the oven to pull the rack. She hurriedly put her fingers in cool water to ease the heat. Then, she went to her icebox to see was there any butter. It was a little bit left in the corner of a bowl. She scraped the edges of the bowl and applied some onto her fingers and placed the bowl in the sink.

Strong Emotions in Vietnam (Travel from Home #14)
Once again, a book dictated the country I chose to fake travel to. In August, I traveled from home to Vietnam in August 2021. I had another tough time acquiring the food. While I could probably have gone to H Mart, I don't trust my ability to cook tofu and make it taste decent. I selected a nearby Vietnamese restaurant that had some great choices I could eat and set aside some time to go only to find it had closed. So I sat in the parking lot with my phone, searching for another restaurant. The next closest had almost no vegetarian choices, but I finally located one about twenty minutes away that had lots of vegetarian options as well as desserts.

Bijoy
It was a frosty, foggy winter the Indian government had just announced that it would respond to the pre-emptive strike by Pakistan and everyone in the Kashmiri region had been warned to take cover. Raj woke up in the middle of the night to deafening sounds of bombs, he turned to his mom who had his other 3 siblings in each arm. “mama, I’m scared.” Hot tears poured down his eyes. His mum stroked his ruffled black hair that seemed like the only thing that had grown the past 15 days they had been in the bunker. The bunker was a dug up hole in the ground She brought him closer to her and told him it was just a game of hide and seek and in order to win they had to be as quiet as possible. Her voice was hollow and dry but she sang a hymn softly in his ears while the bombs and metal pieces scattered above the bunker. Next airstrike exploded what seemed like a few feet near them, this time the sandbags that were placed over the hole burst open and sand and dust poured in. Raj screeched, “I DON’T WANT TO PLAY ANYMORE MA!” His brother leaped onto Raj and grasped his mouth, “Raj! Be quiet!!” His brother Mital looked barely recognizable; his skin was ashy gray the same color and the man who was sleeping in a distorted position up in the tree that Raj had seen the other day when he explored the area around the bunker. He buried his face in his mother’s arm there was a puddle of water that seeped through the cracks and every time he heard a loud blast the bunker seemed like it would eventually close in on them.

Darjeeling ‘Queen of hills’ –
Darjeeling ‘Queen of the hills’ is undoubtedly the most famous hill station in India with its exquisite scenic beauty. Besides, Darjeeling is also popular for its heritages since the colonial period. Darjeeling is located in West Bengal in the Mahabharat Range or Lesser Himalaya at an elevation of 2,134 meters (6,982 ft.). It is a frontier district, running up between Nepal and Bhutan and extending from the plains of Bengal on the south to the State of Sikkim on the north. Darjeeling is popular for both tangible and intangible heritages. The climate, tea, tourism, trade, railways, Victorian buildings, and trans-Himalayan culture enrich the hills. In Darjeeling heritage is both sources of identity and cultural expression. Darjeeling became the official summer capital of the Bengal Presidency in the colonial period.
