Ghana - 5 Lies & More Ghanaians Tell About Ghana & Refuse to Stop
This is one of the most annoying things I've ever had to deal with living in Ghana

One of the most difficult thing about living in Ghana was trying to get correct information from Ghanaians. I didn't live in segregated communities around the wealthy elite at all. I lived around everyday working class Ghanaians, I had no idea that they weren't being truthful until I got started getting conflicting information.
One being I am not counting as the 5, however I was told by many Ghanaians the JJ Rawlings was light (fair) skin because he came from a tribe of "fair skin" people. But I had already known well before coming to Ghana that he in fact had a Scottish father and an Ewe mother. This is why he looked biracial. I found it sad that many claimed that the Ewe tribe was fair skin, that many didn't know about the former military leader of Ghana.
By the way even the family I lived with for 5 months, didn't seem to know he was biracial. some did know they used the nasty term half caste though.
1. That there is a King in Ghana - Many Ghanaians proclaim these paramount chiefs as Kings. Perfect example is the Ashante Tribe. The Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Asantehene is the current leader, even Wikipedia calls this man a king and he is not.
In an interview, the Dormaahene, Osagyefo Oseadeayo Agyeman Badu II, who is also a High Court judge, repeated his utterances and raised issues with how the Asantehene elevates chiefs to the status of paramountcy and also said there was “no King in Ghana” as the 1992 Constitution does not make any reference and room for that.
This was repeated on UTV News platform, the government was trying to stop Ghanaians from saying this but most refuse to do so.
2. Ghana was the first country in Africa to gain it's independence. This is not correct at all, then some will say in Sub Saharan Africa, that again is not true. Liberia became an independent republic in 1847 from American colonialism. Africans continue to say that Liberia was never colonised but it was. Liberians to this day have a huge celebration on for their first president Joseph Jenkins Roberts.
South Africa gained independence in stages but on May 31, 1910 is the date of South Africa's official (unofficial) independence day. In 1934, South Africa became a sovereign state within the British Empire. May 31, 1961, South Africa became a republic and then again in April 27, 1994, a nonracial, democratic constitution was created under Mandela.
3, Ghana is the 2nd most peaceful country in Africa - Believe it or not the Ghana Embassy in Astria tells this lie to this day. They have not changed this website since 2022, when I look back Ghana shared rankings with Botswana, Tunisia and South Africa.
Ghana today in July of 2024 is ranked 4th in Africa, 2nd in West Africa behind Sierra Leone. Something most Ghanaians and Africa social media pages refuse to correct, most of these pages copy and past one another too. Sadly Sierra Leone influencers seem to lack the social media influncers that Ghana has.
Note: Ghana now has 4 conflict areas, where there are violent classes and people are being killed. In Bawku the number is possibly higher than 225 dead from 2019-2024, God only knows the real count.
4. Ghana is the second highest scamming country in Africa - this is a fact however many Ghanaians claim that this is because of Nigeria and Nigerians. This is so common on social media Ghanaians will clain to be so innocent and God fearing. Scamming, who us?
For some reasons Ghanaians also think its comical that stolen cellphones and cars end up being shipped to Ghana. So these phones and cars are stolen from Canada and the United States and being shipped to Ghana. This would mean that Ghanaians living in these countries are sending them back to Ghana for sale.
5. Ghana's rape culture, sex with children (paedophilia) and child abuse - Ghanaians as with many Africans love that "it takes a village!" Meaning it takes a village to raise children. I can't stand this lie, Ghanaians as well as many Africans will stand idly around and watch people beat and abuse children and women.
Oh there is also the unspoken rule of abuse towards women, almost every Ghanaian man will proclaim they love and protect their women. Below is a video of how much they love their women, gender-based violence is very common in Ghana.
It seems Ghanaians are always twisting the truth, it should be no surprise that the Ghana government does as well. The country is dripping in curroption, almost like no one knows how to tell the truth.
Another odd thing in Ghana, everyone calls everyone a family member, they will say this it my brother, sister or mother, I learned this early on. I started asking was this your biological sister or relative, many had no idea what I was talking about, so I started asking was the person a "real" family member. Sadly a lot of them would say yes and they were lying.
Ghana will forever be the most confusing country I've ever lived in and sadly the worst.
