Favorite Things to Do in Oahu, Hawaii

Memories of Oahu, Hawaii.

Go for a nice drive

Oahu is part of the Hawaiian islands, and everywhere on the island feels like paradise. The weather is mostly tropical with only a few showers some days. I have visited Oahu several times, but each time I visit, I keep wanting to go back. If you ever visit Oahu be prepared to have a memorable experience. I recommend renting a car, because it is the only way to explore the island and go anywhere without feeling rushed. Below are some of my favorite things to do while in Oahu, Hawaii.

Walk along Waikiki during the day

Feel the ocean breeze

One of the first things to do while visiting Oahu is to go to Waikiki beach. After a walk along Waikiki beach, it is very important to take a break in order to appreciate the scenery and enjoy the beauty of the island. There are several places nearby where you can grab something to eat and drink if you are hungry or thirsty. After taking a break, you feel refreshed and full of energy again to continue exploring the island.

Go for a swim in Waikiki

Waikiki Beach

Waikiki beach can get a little crowded sometimes, but if you happen to go to Oahu make sure to go to Waikiki beach. This day was not as crowded as most days. The water was calm and it looked and felt like you were swimming in a swimming pool.

Take a picture of Waikiki

Waikiki

One of my favorite things to do is to take pictures of everything I see when I travel. From this location you can clearly see Diamond Head. I have never personally been there, but it is on my list of things to do for my next trip to Oahu. I will make sure to let you know of my experience when that happens.

Go for a walk at sunset

A nice walk during sunset

Whether you are visiting Oahu by yourself or with a travel companion, make sure to enjoy the sunset while in Waikiki beach.

Walk on the beach at night

Walking on the beach at night is very relaxing, and if you get hungry there are several places to eat nearby.

Enjoy a blue Hawaiian

Hike on the Manoa Falls trail

The hike to the Manoa falls was a memorable experience. I don't recommend drinking a margarita before the hike, because it will make you feel out of shape. Once you get to the top and see the waterfall it will make you feel like you can accomplish anything in life.

Drive to Lanikai Beach, Kailua

Calm ocean waves

Getting to Lanikai beach can be a bit difficult sometimes, but once you get there, it is all worth it. Finding a parking spot was not an easy task, but if you get there early enough, you may not have any trouble at all. This is one of my favorite beaches while in Oahu.

Grill some shrimp on the beach

Hungry?

Before heading to the beach stop at the local supermarket for some shrimp and steak to grill on the beach.

Enjoy some snow ice

No matter where you go on the island, you will be tempted to try some snow ice. Although there are many different flavors, my favorite one was plain with a little bit of coconut on top.

Drive around the island

Driving around the island and enjoying the scenery is very relaxing.

Spend an entire day at Waimanalo beach

Waimanalo Beach

Every time I go to Oahu this is the beach where I spend most of my days. What makes this beach special is that it is always less crowded than most beaches. It is away from the tourist area, and it doesn't look like a lot of people know about it. The water is beautiful, and the waves are very calm. There are plenty of parking spaces, and you can also grill on the beach if you wish to do so. Camping is also allowed on this beach. Every time I go to this beach, it feels like home and I would stay there forever if I could.

Drive to North Shore Oahu

I like to drive to the North Shore of Oahu. While Waikiki beach can be a bit noisy and a bit crowded sometimes, North Shore is the complete opposite. In North Shore you will get to see the most beautiful sunset. It is peaceful and calm, and at times it will make you feel like you have a private beach to yourself.

North Shore

This was a very nice day on North Shore. When I was there there weren't many people and there were plenty of parking spaces available.
