Discover the Charm of Shantou, Jieyang, and Guangdong

A Journey Through The Shantou, Jieyang, Guangdong, China

By Barry KowaskiPublished about a year ago 4 min read

The lack of other vehicles in the opposite lane makes it harder to justify speeding. Right-hand driving: You must stop behind the traffic line in accordance with red, yellow, or green lights and all relevant regulations.

The writer describes the route from Jieyang Chaosan International Airport to Puning and then ahead to Shantou as surprisingly calm, relaxed, disciplined, and clean.

When we landed in Jieyang City—Puning near Shantou—our first impression was reassuring.

Beijing, Jieyang, and Puning in Shantou are certainly less crowded than the other two tourist destinations, Guilin and Hangzhou, near Shanghai. This city might appear to be calm, but it is this "loneliness" that mesmerises me. An industrial town that sells a variety of metal items and mechanical instruments seems "tranquil." The producers could be located outside of town, and we lived in town, with different pieces of metal art clearly visible around the city.

We live in a local family residence on the edge of a big road in Puning. The path is peaceful, with few sightings of trucks or automobiles. All houses along this significant thoroughfare designate their fronts for commercial purposes. The place provides several metal items for sale, such as gas cylinders, grinding machines, cutting machines, trolleys, and rice husking machines.

It is an exhaustive inventory of all stainless steel domestic appliances.

I expect confirmation regarding whether or not home tools like needles, pliers, shovels, hoes, and more are available at different retailers.

A resident said that nearly all of these metal products are exported abroad. I suspect this is true, as I observed many of those stores being vacant, which demonstrates a lack of observable economic activity. Electronic commerce transactions definitely involve electronic means.

As expected, however, the spectacular rapport between a wide array of primary roads in the Shantou area leads to a higher prevalence of larger vehicles, such as container trucks and similarly long cars. The bollards are comparatively high towards container trucks with broad, covering roof startups. Reply: The items are already all boxed up and displayed outside the shops before being directly placed into the free space within large trucks.

Shantou needs pedestrians in its street, yet the unseen hand of commerce clearly moves it, so this city's economy is galloping.

I am not going to simply praise circumstances. However, my experiences noticing the exit of the arrival hall of Chaosan Jieyang Airport in Puning did have a good name. It is not compared to Pudong in Shanghai or Beijing, but you can call it "tranquil" compared to Guilin, which is around as borderline as the airport.

Still, the affluent sentiments were immediately apparent as I stepped out of the airport arrival gate. The latest sedan models were lined up in the parking lot; at one end of the lane were the Peugeot series and other more realistic European cars. The latest Huawei AITO, newer Mercedes-Benz S 350 L, etc., are also good choices for our journey.

Although the broad-through street was without trash and potholes, it required more smoothing. An astounding elevated road goes up about 6 or 7 meters above the main road. The elevated highway seemed to stand still, as the traffic noise was almost nonexistent. The plush car I was in was likely quite soundproof, keeping unwanted noises from entering the peaceful and luxurious cabin.

I had never previously visited Jieyang, Puning, which is in Guangdong Province, not far from Shantou, China. This city is about 400 miles from Guangzhou and within hours by car and high-speed train from both Hong Kong and Shenzhen. With the existence of foreign trade, Shantou still needs to increase traffic and visitors.

With the vehicle we rented, we started to depart for Shantou from Puning; as the car we were riding was about to enter Shantou city, the natural views were truly amazing.

When we arrived in Shantou, the driver took us to a place that is often visited by tourists both from within the country and from abroad, for example, us.

We spent about six hours there playing around, shopping for souvenir items made in Shantou, and eating the food sold there.

The Port

Shantou Port is a maritime facility located in Shantou, Guangdong Province, People's Republic of China. Regarding Shantou South Sea Port, Shantou Port is a naval city located in southern China. It is the primary port for maritime trade in the region. The port serves as a vital conduit for the import and export of goods, facilitating economic development in the adjacent areas.

The commerce at the Guang'ao Port dock in the Shantou District of Guangdong Province, situated south of Darhao Island, has experienced a significant surge. The number has increased to 9 due to the addition of three new international shipping routes in 2018.

In an interview with the administrator, he mentioned: 'There is now an improvement on the inspection of the imported empty containers which can lower time costs by about thirty five percent and save a lot of human and material resources on improvements at the wharf and the factory.' Apart from the above, Shantou Customs has also started various initiatives aimed at improving the customs environment and improving the overall competitiveness of the Guang'ao Port.

Seaports, through their structures and technical facilities, are constantly being forced to modernise and rejuvenate. It means that the port facilities will, over time, change in size and number due to expansion. Information on the port's activities is reasonably current. It includes information on Shantou Port that can be requested from official structures, such as port officials, marine agencies, or a number of reputable news agencies.
