Deserving On Its Own
Our beautiful country

My travels have taken me to the beautiful vicinity of Warwick, where I’m camped up for two weeks at the Rose City Caravan Park.

Two weeks, because of the Australia Day long weekend, in which I struggled to find a powered site — being the middle of summer, I want a powered site to run the air conditioner as needed, especially for Grizabella who is in the hot caravan all day.
I found this tiny caravan park at Warwick, called Rose City Caravan Park, and it’s just delightful, with its drive through bays and quaint permanent caravans that can be booked out by those that don’t have their own van.
It’s a picturesque little park.

To get here from Kalbar, I had to drive up Cunningham Gap, which took me over the Great Dividing Range. Thankfully, I was unaware of this when I left Kalbar or I would have chickened out towing the van up the range, meaning I would have missed out on all Warwick had to offer.
Cunningham Gap, I now know, is famous for its steep grades, which are steeper than the Toowoomba Range. For example, on the last peak over the range it is about a 14% gradient.
Just boggles my mind that I towed the caravan up that steep gradient, considering I was too scared to tow the caravan up the Toowoomba Range, hence why I ended up back-tracking when I left Helidon Spa.
To make matters worse it was all roadworks so the speed limit was 40 kph up the range.
But, I did it!
I spent last weekend exploring some of the beautiful landscape and water falls in the vicinity, completing a road trip of around 141 kilometres and took in the following sights. I’ll let the photos do the talking as they need no introduction from me.
Brown Falls

Daggs Falls

Queen Mary Falls

Carrs Lookout

The road to these falls where a little scary in places; the road only just wide enough for two cars to pass — doubtful in some places, with trees blocking part of the road in a number of spots, winding curves taken at no more than 10 kph and a steep drop-off on one side. But it was well worth the drive.
Over the course of the week and a bit that I’ve been here, I’ve discovered some cute and quaint cafes in which to enjoy breakfast.
The first was this busy little cafe in Killarney, which is 29 kilometres from Warwick.

Next, I visited the Little Gallery Cafe in the shopping district of Warwick. A cute Cafe / Gift Shop.

Then, yesterday I found this little gem, only 2 kilometres from the Rose City Caravan Park, called Warwick’s Garden Galore. It’s a beautiful cafe, but it’s also a plant nursery. I was surprised to find the cutest chickens I’ve ever seen and down the back were some goats. I spent over an hour just wandering the grounds.

Today, I drove approximately 8 kilometres out of town to find this beautiful Cafe, come Nursery, called Wild Grounds Cafe. Breakfast was awesome but the quiet and peaceful grounds were to die for. It was like I was alone, although I wasn’t, but there were tables tucked into the most private corners throughout the grounds.

After breakfast, I took a drive out to Leslie Dam and had a wander along the waters edge to work off the delicious breakfast. Leslie Dam is approximately 25 kilometres from the Wild Grounds Cafe.

I’m still here in Warwick for another five days, but as I’ll be working 4 x 10 hour days, I won’t get much of a chance to explore further, but all in all, I’m happy to have discovered so much in the short time I’ve been staying here.
