Victoria is the capital and largest city of the Republic of Seychelles, situated on the north-eastern side of Mahé, the archipelago's main island. It is the smallest country in Africa. The city was first established as the seat of the British colonial government.

Sir Selwyn Selwyn-Clarke Market is the place to see how locals do their shopping, Here you can purchase fresh seafood, exotic fruit, spices, and traditional crafts. The market was built in 1840 with colorful stalls. It is vibrant and lively.

Seychelles National Botanical Gardens is a national monument and was established in 1901 by the Mauritian agronomist, P R Dupont.

There are more than 280 plant species as well as giant tortoises. Among the highlights is a Coco de Mer, an endemic tree with the largest nut in the world.

The Natural History Museum is the ideal place to learn about Seychelles’ rich biodiversity and environmental efforts. This museum is located in a modest colonial style building and has exhibits on Seychelles’ unique wildlife, geology and conservation initiatives. Preserved specimens of endemic species include rare birds and marine life. There are informative displays about the history of natural resources among them the famous Coco de Mer Palm.

Not far from the museum at the roundabout is the Little Ben Clock Tower. It resembles the clock tower at Vauxhall Bridge in London, England. It is a unique clock that strikes twice on the hour and it inspired the words to the song “Going back to the Seychelles, where the clock strikes twice.”

The Victoria Art Gallery displays the artwork of local artists. You can view paintings, sculptures, and handicrafts. The artwork of the island's talented artists can be purchased by visitors. The gallery also hosts exhibitions and cultural events.

The State House is located around 200 m from the Little Ben Clock Tower. You can see an entrance gate leading into a landscaped garden, The house was built in 1913 and was the residence of former British governors. Since the 1970s it has been the President's home and working space.

The Bicentennial Monument stands in Freedom Square. It consists of three pairs of extended white wings and was built in 1978 to commemorate the 200th anniversary of Victoria. The monument was created by Italian artist Lorenzo Appiani, who lived in the Seychelles at the time. The three wings symbolise the origins of the Seychelles' population, and represent the three continents represented in the country: Africa, Europe, and Asia.

St. Paul's Cathedral stands opposite the Clock Tower. It is the oldest and largest Anglican church in the Seychelles. The cathedral was consecrated in 1859 by the first Anglican Bishop of Mauritius, and subjected to a renovation in the early 21st century, the church now seats 800, twice as many as before. Since 1920, the Seychelles and Mauritius have shared their own diocese, with St. Paul serving as the second bishop's seat.

Arul Mihu Navasakthi Vinayagar Temple is a colorful, decorated temple to the Hindu God Vinayagar. It was built in 1992 and is a place of worship for around 5,000 Hindus living in Victoria.
Cathedral of Our Lady of Immaculate Conception (pictures above) is the largest Catholic church in the Seychelles. It was built in 1892. The design of the cathedral harks back to Seyhellois architect Gilbert Frichot, while the tabernacles and doors were designed by sculptor Egbert Marday. The church as lovely stained glass windows and is surrounded by a lovely garden. Next to it is the Priest House, La Domus, built in 1934. The bell tower is located behind the building, and dates back to 1898, while the small house next door was built in 1933. The church itself is large enough for around 700 worshipers.

Kenwyn House is a lovely example of French colonial architecture. Inside, you will find an exclusive souvenir shop where you can buy precious items such as South African jewelry, while the house's art gallery displays Seychellois painting exhibitions.

National Library Building is a modern structure of steel and glass. It houses an extensive library. Since 1995, the archive has been open to the public, and admission is free.

To enjoy nature and stunning views take the Copolia Trail. The Copolia Trail is one of the best hikes you can do on Mahé, thanks in large parts due to its stunning views and relative easiness. It is located in the north of Mahé Island, on the edge of the Morne Seychellois National Park. The way up is not too long, although you have to be prepared for steep parts of the forest. The trail is covered underneath the rich growth of the forest, containing many endemic palms. Higher up along the trail, the area is covered with boulders on which grow the endemic carnivorous Pitcher plant as well as other endemic fauna such as birds and amphibians including one of the world’s smallest frogs and endemic Seychelles’ snake.

Visit the most famous restaurant in Seychelles, Marie Antoinette Restaurant. The restuarant is housed in a colonial Seychellois mansion among spice gardens, giant tortoises and the Livingstone Gallery. Named after Queen Marie-Antoinette of France, it offers outdoor seating with authentic Creole Seychellois food.

Beau Vallon Beach is one of the most famous beaches in Seychelles, just a short drive from Victoria, and famous for its powdery white sand, and crystal clear waters. This idyllic spot is ideal for swimming, sunbathing and water sports such as snorkeling, diving and jet skiing. Cozy cafés, seafood restaurants, and a few local vendors who sell seafood and other tropical fruits and snacks line the beach.
