Basel
A lovely city in Switzerland by the German border.

Switzerland was a country I wanted to go to because I fell in love with the architecture and the scenery. The gothic castles, the scenic bridges and the dainty little buildings make it one of the highlights of my European adventures. I only went there for the day, before getting the train back to Germany. I stayed in a pretty city called Freiburg which is close to the French/Swiss border so I could get a train to both those countries. One of the best things about going on holiday in Europe is the easy access to other countries. I'd like to go back to Basel and maybe explore more places in this country. When I was there, it was on a Sunday and a lot of the shops that I would have liked to have gone in where closed.

I was able to find a lot of these pictures still saved onto my computer. Coming to Basel was a romantic date. The guy swept me off my feet taking me all around Netherlands, France, Belgium, Germany and Switzerland. We are no longer together, but I still treasure the lovely places where we went to together. It's a great place to walk around, if you like places like Prague, you would enjoy Basel too. I went to Basel before going to Prague and when I saw pictures and videos of Prague it reminded me of places like Strasbourg and Basel and chose to book a trip to Prague.

A big wall of cats. I believe this was a part of one of the shops I wanted to go in, but it was sadly closed. This is something I would expect to see in Japan or in a huge city with international shops to please people of all tastes. Would never have expected to see something like this in Switzerland. It's adorable and I can see this attracting many customers into their shop. Sadly I didn't catch the shop's name. Not sure if it's still open. If anyone knows, can they leave a comment?

It really felt like a different world. I don't remember taking this picture of this post with the bell, but it makes me think of so many countries within Europe that share the same time zones. I really like the multiple bells and flags around it as well.

I came across this great mural of some legendary music artists. This picture dosen't contain the whole thing, but it's easy to spot Bob Marley, The Beatles and some classic album covers on here. What really stands out is David Bowie from his Ziggy Stardust era. Ozzy Osbourne is spotted to. I'm sure Amy Winehouse and Kurt Cobain were on the other part of the mural too.

I thought this little covered market was charming. They had a big range of stuff there and a part of me wished I got some Swiss currency cause a lot of places were taking either only cash or you had a special app to use to pay which seemed to be for locals only. I don't think this picture does the place any justice.

This building reminds me of Sweden with the colour scheme. I think we had a food at a burger joint not far from here. I had a vegan burger and my ex-partner had chips. Although I've not been to Sweden yet would like to go there. I loved just walking around seeing the handmade stuff in the window and exploring off into the cobbles. Then after a long walk relaxing on the bench by the river Rhine and taking pics on the bridge. It was a fun day.
