A Fairy Tale Visit to New England

New England Botanic Garden at Tower Hill

By Kristen BarenthalerPublished 7 months ago 1 min read

If you're looking for a beautiful, fairy garden to explore, look no further than New England Botanic Garden at Tower Hill where you can explore nearly 200 acres of amazing scenery.

Since 1986, the gardens have continually grown to include plants and flowers for all seasons, so that they can be open year-round. There are even fairy gardens and treehouses for kids to play in. As well as other sensory activities for all ages.

I know what you're thinking, "this would only be fun on a sunny summer day", but you'd be wrong. When I went with my mom, aunt, and younger cousin, it was a drizzly, overcast day and we had more fun than I ever could've imagined. Since the gardens are open year-round, they have something for any type of day.

There were very few people there because of the rain, so we almost had run of the place. The flowers and plants all had an almost ethereal brilliance to them with their shiny, dripping faces. If you're like me and find nature's beauty in all types of weather, I highly suggest a rainy day visit. You'll have plenty of time to explore and won't get overheated from the direct sunlight on many of the walking paths.

If it becomes too rainy (or sunny), you can also stop by the café and gift shop to see the amazing fairy garden displays from previous years. As well as grabbing something delicious to eat or a gift to remember the amazing time you had, there are rotating displays that showcase events, programs, or artists that have recently been a part of the garden. When we were there, that included a look back at some of the amazingly intricate fairy gardens dotted throughout the property.

No matter when or why you're visiting, the New England Botanic Garden at Tower Hill is a must visit when in Massachusetts! It's an absolute dreamland for anyone, especially little kids or those who enjoy the beauty of nature.
