feminism
At its core, feminism is the simple conviction that women are equal to men in every regard, and should be treated as such.
I Sparkled on My Own Terms . Top Story - December 2021.
It was my wedding reception. Let me put this into context for my non-Indian readers. An Indian wedding reception usually happens a day after the wedding. It is an occasion when all friends and family, primarily on the groom’s side, come laden with gifts and good wishes for the newlywed pair. In exchange, the guests have a delectable feast.

Cold
TW: Rape, self-harm He can’t help but get on you in the middle of the night. He knows you’re not okay. He knows you can’t handle this right now. It’s nearly two o’clock in the morning though, and you’re sleeping peacefully beside him. Your nearly naked body is so close, so warm. You’re asleep on your stomach, and your long blonde hair is strewn across a pillow. He touches it; it’s soft and damp. The subtle scent of your conditioner wafts up to him. He wants you. Later, he rolls back over, and you know he’s pretending to be asleep. You get up and put on a t-shirt before going to the bathroom. You splash cold water on your face, clean yourself up. By the time you come back, his breathing is deep. His snoring starts back up. He’s asleep. You crawl back into bed and curl up into a tiny ball on the right side, shivering – only partly from the cold.

Men Don’t Believe Us
To make my point, let’s start with a little story from my morning commute. My workplace is in the city, but in such a hard-to-reach spot that we’re provided transport to the office from the city center. Since there’s no bus or train to make it there, everyone who works in the building either gets there in their own car or by minibus from the city center.

The Modern Southern Woman
Life for a woman south of the Mason-Dixon line has historically been portrayed as an existence of niceties, casseroles, cotillons, and looking polished in the sweltering heat. Southern women are often perceived as either well-mannered, obedient conservatives with a deep collection of recipes, or as cigarette smoking, non-working, undereducated women that can often be found barefoot and pregnant. Yes, there are other depictions of the southern woman but let’s be honest; the modern southern woman is not Scarlet O’hara, or Honey Boo-Boo. In 2022, being a Southern woman is a mixture of the past, present, and the future. We are evolving, and, to be honest, we are changing the game!

Don't Give Up Your Safety Ladies
I know this is a sensitive topic and there are very vocal people leading the charge against men that don’t behave properly with women. I’m all for that. Improper behavior should not be condoned. But it is ludicrous to tell women that they don’t have to take precautionary actions because men should leave them alone. Life is not that simple.

4 Small Everyday Things That Are Actually Promoting Sexism
We've come a long way in the war against sexism. Modern women vote, drive, work, and are financially independent. We have our own identities, dreams and goals. Legally speaking, we are equal to men in every way.

I’ve Always Liked Being Catcalled
Before you head to the comments and tell me there’s something wrong with me for liking it when I’m objectified and harassed: I already know. I wouldn’t be writing this if there wasn’t. Hell, I probably wouldn’t be a writer if there wasn’t something wrong with me, period.
